The Sioux Falls Manufacturing Plant will be responsible for the timely and quality production of digital billboards, fuel lights displays, and additional products as business needs demand.
This position is in the Sioux Falls Mfg. department. The hours are Monday through Thursday: 7:00am to 4:30pm and Friday: 7:00am to 11:00am.
- Learn Daktronics products, systems, processes, and material flow.
- Lead and supervise buyer/planner team.
- Responsible for hiring, training and coaching employees.
- Foster teamwork through effective communication to employees and internal customers.
- Monitor completeness, accuracy, and compliance of purchasing requirements and scheduling needs.
- Use of Glovia and other available resources to ensure we are only purchasing the parts that we need and getting them in the building when they are needed by production.
- All schedules are set to ensure the work is getting done as needed to meet our (internal & external) customer ship dates.
- Ensure miscellaneous tasks associates with purchasing and scheduling (examples: reacting to part shorts, excess review, returns, etc.) are getting done in a timely manner.
- Being available to help in escalated situations by providing the additional support needed to rectify the situation and assist in determining a root cause.
- Perform the necessary materials related tasks that are needed to ensure that production can keep running.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools to lead the team in constant improvement to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Maintain strong working relationships and teamwork with our suppliers and other factory personnel.
- Work closely with our Business Unit on ensuring our factory is scheduled to build and ship the product that is needed to meet our customers' expectations.
- Ensure safe and responsible work practices.
- Follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed to meet customer expectations.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Bachelor's degree required. Economics, Business, Math, or related field of study preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability required and ability to train and motivate employees. Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement.
- Current or previous purchasing or scheduling experience preferred.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software. Microsoft Office skills preferred. Glovia experience is preferred.
- Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read fine/small print with or without the use of corrective lenses.
- Regularly and reliably work the scheduled hours. Ability to work overtime when workload requires.
- Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards.Items may include: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, and electrostatic discharge wear.
- Fluent in English, written and verbal.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements, which includes following safety protocols related to COVID-19.
