About the work Unit:

The purpose of the Hospital Operations Department is to provide operational oversight of Furniture, Fixtures, Equipment (FFE), office space utilization, procurement, printing operations, safety and risk management, mailroom, delivery of mail, packages, supplies, property and building management of the Robert Hawkins Building at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo.
About the Position:

The purpose of this position is to plan and organize the prompt delivery of services, State property, patient funds, and patient property in a secure, timely, and expeditious manner. This position safely moves, loads, stores, and rotates items in current inventory and new inventory and is responsible for one state vehicle to use for moving all FF&E and property. Duties in this position include:

Patient Property Management:

Responsible for managing the long term storage area that holds all property for the 500+ patients on the CMHIP campus. Ensures that property is delivered and locked up in long term storage that cannot go on the unit. Gathers totes on units to return to admissions. Work/communicate with Program Directors or Program Team Coordinators to have patient property from long term storage ready for patient discharge. Mail property to county jails, patients or their family if property is not taken when discharged. Evaluates storage space for efficiency and safety. Ensures the keeping of a clean, safe, and secure environment.

Office/Unit moves and State Property:
Responsible for the receipt, storage and distribution of furniture, fixtures and equipment. Responsible for removing state property for disposal or repair. Sorts, labels and delivers furnishings to the unit and warehouse property to unit storage areas. Assisting in moving state property for office moves and unit moves to include staff furniture and patient furniture. Responsible for moving patient hospital beds from one unit to another. Responsible for picking up and relocating items that include all moveable and startup equipment which consists of state-owned furniture, appliances and all office types of equipment. Delivers or picks up goods from vendors, Southern District Warehouse, all buildings on campus using a State issued truck.

Distribution of Warehouse orders and Minor Equipment and Inventory Control:
Position is responsible for delivery of warehouse orders in the Hawkins Building. These deliveries are made on Tuesdays and Fridays of every week. Position is responsible for pick-up and to distribute items ordered from outside vendors for units within the hospital. Controls inventory for furniture, fixtures and equipment, assuring the AMC is fully stocked; replenish stock as needed. Assists with development of steps in the inventory process and maintains organization of inventory storage locations. Forecasts future commodity needs and sets stock levels and develops plans in place for assessing and anticipating needs for microwaves, refrigerators, etc. Position works with the warehouse if alternative storage location is needed due to excess inventory of furniture, fixtures and equipment. This position assists customers with special material handling needs such as truck delivery, dolly or labor assistance.

Mail and Package Delivery Backup:
As needed, provide assistance to mail room and mail delivery staff. Process and/or pick up mail from CMHIP mail room and deliver to treatment units and departments. Pick up outgoing mail from the units and return to the CMHIP mail room. Sign as the individual responsible for certified mail, insured mail, registered mail/packages and deliver items to the units and administrative offices. Maintain staff and patient safety while conducting duties on the treatment units. This position assists customers with special material handling needs such as truck delivery, dolly, or labor assistance with large and oversized packages.

Other Duties as Assigned:
Responsible for performance of assigned tasks and duties within the scope of practice for this position that do not fall within the realm of duty statements A-E. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or Appointing Authority.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.

Substitutions:
Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Full background Check- Name check, TRAILS, Drug Screen and Fingerprinting
  • Maintain a Regular Colorado Driver's License
  • Travel- Delivers or picks up goods from vendors, Southern District Warehouse, and all building on CMHIP campus using a State truck.
  • Influenza vaccination.
  • Other vaccinations as required by the State of Colorado
  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
  • As a condition of employment, this position is required to attest to and verify that they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. *On or after October 31, 2021, each facility shall ensure all newly hired employees, direct contractors, or support staff members are fully vaccinated at the time of hire, or receive their first dose of a two-dose protocol, or a single-dose vaccination, prior to providing any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its clients.
