Provides technical Materials and Processes support for the engineering group across multiple programs. Investigates, prepares / develops, verifies, and incorporates technical specifications for aircraft manufacturing processes for parts manufacturing operations and assembly operations based on aircraft type certification requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Research/analyze problems involving material and manufacturing special processes of parts and assemblies across all Ontic business product lines.
- Recommend/provide solutions to technical manufacturing material and Processing problems. Ensure implementation and effectiveness of solutions.
- Assist vendors with questions about drawing requirements for material and Process manufacturing problems.
- Initiates, provides, and identifies raw material, forming and heat treatments, and chemical processing specifications or equivalent requirements.
- Per drawing review or engineering drawing Request for Change (RFC), perform a gap analysis of cancelled material specifications called out by the engineering drawing to verify compliance with suggested superseding material specifications. Create engineering report and maintain spreadsheet of cancelled and superseding material specifications.
- Maintain and update Ontic Type Design Standard Processing Specifications (SPS). FAA approved for manufacturing Metro and Merlin aircraft parts and assemblies, revise and amend as required. Similar task for the Twin Commander Type Design data.
- When requested by SCM or per Vendor request for alternate processing per Ontic Standard Process Specifications (SPS) drawing call out, perform a gap analysis of Supplier / Vendor special process or Military / Industry process for compliance with Ontic FAA approved SPS and create engineering report. Similar task for the Twin Commander processes.
- Create or approve written process specifications into manufacturing operation sheets / work instructions/EPR system and ensure that all engineering specified requirements are met.
- Research current and historic engineer drawing data to verify P/N material and manufacturing process finishing specifications for Supply Chain Management (SCM) Spare Parts supplier / vendor quotes prior to being released.
- Create engineering drawing RFC to revise or correct drawing call outs per research / review findings, as required.
- Assist Quality Assurance as Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Supplier On-Site Process Audits, as required.
- Appointed Engineering Representative on Quality Assurance Material Review Board (MRB) for research, review and disposition of discrepant parts which deviate from PO requirement and compliance with Engineering data.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and minimum of 7 years of manufacturing/planning experience.
- Experience working with aircraft Materials and Processes.
- Ability to read aircraft engineering drawings and update manuals.
- Understanding of fabrication and Processing steps and order.
- Familiar with ASM, MIL, NAS, AN, ASTM, ASWE specifications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Must be a US Person.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience working with ERP systems, eBOM's and routing documentation.
