POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for keeping work stations fully stocked with materials, thus controlling the continuous flow of productivity, assuring that the daily production and on-time-delivery schedules are met. The Lean Water Spider (Material Handler) is a fast paced environment position requiring excellent communication skills, teamwork and the ability to organize and prioritize. The primary function will be the coordination and delivery of component parts necessary to sustain manufacturing operations while performing material handling duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures that JIT is happening just the right amount of materials and supplies at the right time in the right place.

Responsible for the movement of raw materials into the production areas to be staged into the work cells and within the factory.

Assist in 5S, continuous improvement and Lean activities proactively and as assigned.

Keeps the flow in the factory clean and smooth by taking on the occasional tasks (tasks that do not happen every cycle, such as material replenishment or making shipping containers).

Retrieve and organize totes, pallets, carts, etc. as required.

Verifies inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigates discrepancies or adjust errors.

Determines proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.

Stores items in an orderly and accessible manner in stockroom, supply rooms, or other areas.

Marks stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.

Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Issues or distributes materials, products, parts, and supplies to appropriate departments or individuals, based on information from incoming requisitions.

Keeps records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.

Enter data for quantities of parts issued and transferred between locations, inventory and cycle count adjustments, into computer database.

Examines and inspects stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.

Maintains a safe, organized and efficient work area.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Both fast pick up and ability to walk quickly.

Understand basic manufacturing process and how supply inventory control interacts with upstream and downstream functions.

Good computer skills and ability to query, monitor and input ERP system data.

Able to work with multiple priorities and people.

Maintain inventory storage in a clean, orderly manner.

Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills.

Ability to professionally communicate and work with others.

Production and Processing Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Service Orientation Actively looking for ways to help people.

Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally with all levels of supervision on the status of jobs.

Attendance / Punctuality: Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient personal computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook E-mail software, Internet software, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software. ERP experience desired.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range: $20 - Depending on experience.
