Material Handler (Mogul) - 2nd Shift 

SUMMARY

Operates sanding drum, catches candy and helps in the Kitchen/Mogul area by performing the following duties.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem from time to time. *Food safety or quality responsibilities within job.  All staff are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.

1. Following established procedures, prepares sanding drum for use and checks the conveyor belts from the mogul to the drum.

1. Bring trays to the work area, cleaning them if necessary.

1. Regulates steam, sugar and/or other additives in the sanding drum.

1. While drum is in operation monitors equipment to prevent clogging or over saturation of ingredients.

1. Stack trays on trucks as they fill with candy, in whatever catching station is being used.

1. Prepares and operates the oiler machine following established procedures.

1. Performs the safe operation of an electric pallet jack and power lift equipment including specialized equipment. Must pay strict attention to all visitors and employees moving about the facility.  Reports faulty truck operation to supervisor or maintenance

1. Prepares defect report at the end of the shift.

1. Performs all other work as assigned by the supervisor.

1. Responsible for the quality of their work and implementation of the food safety/quality procedures applicable to the processes that they perform.

1. Report all safety incidents.

1. Responsible to report any food safety/quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action – SQF Practitioner or direct supervisor.
2. Follows the rules and guidelines of processing orders using the M3/DSI including generating license plates, storing and retrieving data and stock and document follow through. Transfers goods within the system.
3. Uses hand held scanner as needed to make license plates for product identification.
4. As directed, moves candy to and from the holding /storage area, to the Packaging Department and does proper transfer in our system using hand held scanner.
5. Keeps the rows of candy laden or empty truck in a neat and orderly fashion.
6. Keeps trucks with defective and assorted candy separate from the standard quality candy.
7. Cleans up any candy from spills or accidents
8. Familiar with our Inventory Control System M3.  Enters information into computer system.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in on-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Must be able to read, write and speak in English. MATHEMATICAL

SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

REASONING ABILITIY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
