Job Description
Volt is looking for a Material Handler to work with our client, a cosmetics company. Our client is in Los Angeles, CA (near LAX)
Operate material handling equipment for the transfer of materials in and out of the production areas, in an efficient and safe manner
· Open bulk product containers using clean and sanitary procedures. Move empty containers to the proper storage or disposal locations
· Direct deliveries and maintain production staging areas in an organized, orderly style.
· Maintain production and work areas per S.O.P. for safe and efficient production
· Communicate with crew chiefs and supervision as to immediate and longer-term priorities which includes delivery and removal of materials on and off the production lines and movement of bulk containers
· Verify production issues are the correct items and quantities, as per the issue sheet, and all packages are properly sealed and identified
· Monitor production lines for needed supplies and assistance
· Return pallets and bulk to the warehouse, confirming documentation is correct and accurate. Assure these materials are delivered in a style that prevents the chance of comingling or confusing different items
· Maintain segregated areas for return materials for Sylmar with different sized items separated as well as packaging materials for removal from the Packaging area and disposal
· Assist in production as required, while still maintaining local material handling responsibilities
· Coordinate activities and breaks with other Material Handlers and the Crew Chiefs to insure departmental coverage
· Move finished goods and subassemblies to appropriate storage area, while confirming labeling is complete and accurate. Route/move raw materials, component parts, and finished goods to and from plant departments/warehouse locations
· Maintain packaging supply area in an orderly and organized fashion
· Rotate between Department work areas on a regular basis, to meet operating requirements
· Perform all activities with a sense of urgency
· Comply with all Company policies, including safety, attendance, productivity, housekeeping and quality guidelines
· Perform any other duties as assigned by management to meet company goals
Minimum 1 years experience in a manufacturing or production environment. High school or Technical School diploma. cGMP knowledge is a plus. Knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations a plus.
