Job description

  • The Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division is one of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's most innovative teams.

  • Applicant will be conducting simulation studies and data analysis of microgrid systems associated with the improved resilience and electrification of shipping ports.
  • Applicant will execute model runs and examine output data.
  • Analysis could include evaluating the electrical/physical impact of a technology on the microgrid, including comparing to alternative solutions.
  • Simulations will leverage the DOE/PNNL open-source GridLAB-D software.
  • Candidates must be matriculated/enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 is preferred
  • Must have basic power systems knowledge (Powerflow, understanding of Ohm's Law, exposure to power systems tools)
  • Data analysis skills (MATLAB/Python)
  • Familiarity with distribution Powerflow programs a plus (preferably GridLAB-D or OpenDSS)
  • Degree or experience in electric power systems or electrical engineering
