At our Ann Arbor site, we are currently looking for a Marketing Manager- Automotive to be a part of our growing team.
The Marketing Manager - Automotive is responsible for ensuring the growth and profitability of the Automotive segment of the Industrial Silicones business. This includes developing and implementing a marketing strategy to identify trends & unmet needs and align them with current and future product and service offerings.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops and executes a Market Development Plan (marketing strategy for growth) for Automotive segment. The Plan will include short, medium, and long term objectives for the segment. Product development and research needs should be identified to align with market needs. Should be aware of competitive and emerging industry trends to position Wacker as a leader in the space. Traditional marketing deliverables are also expected (competitive analysis, marcom/promotional plan, commercial product management, trade show participation, etc.).
- Manages operational activities on an ongoing basis. This includes pricing & profitability management, developing annual budget and forecasts, opportunity pipeline support, coordination of segment activities with sales and technical teams and leads special projects e.g. evaluating need for production localization of a given product, as needed.
- Visit key customers and OEMs in order to understand the market segment, as well as promote new materials for key applications. Drive product development projects with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct competitive and market analysis, Identifying opportunities for growth (both organic as well as via M&A). Develop a strategy for participation and relevance in new growth sub-segments identified. This could involve an emerging focus area such a E-Mobility or fuel cells but could also include untapped opportunities within the existing market e.g. in powertrain components and related applications.. Be visible and active in the outside market in order to listen to developments in the region and position Wacker for relevance in these growth areas
Job Qualifications
- 4-year Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or another technical discipline is required. Masters in marketing, business administration or an MBA is preferred
- 6 years of marketing experience with 3 +years in a strategic marketing, product marketing position or strategic function.
- At least five years experience working in the automotive industry in a product strategy, product marketing, or related field is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and insight into customer needs in new/emerging areas of focus- EV components, EV batteries, fuel cells.
- Have the ability to interview customers, identify market trends and assess markets, and develop an effective marketing strategy and tactics.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration is necessary to be effective in the team environment.
- Experience working within a highly matrixed global team helpful.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to influence others within the organization
- Solid computer and data analysis skills; SAP & SalesForce experience is preferred
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently while working in the larger team.
