Job description

Position Summary:

The Marketing and Customer Engagement Manager at the Surf Ballroom is a dynamic leadership role responsible for the strategic development and execution of comprehensive marketing initiatives. This new position oversees marketing, social media, box office and museum operations, volunteer management, and gift shop sales. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving engagement, shaping the brand identity, and enhancing profitability for the Surf Ballroom and Surf Ballroom Music Enrichment Center (MEC), including the upcoming IMEX immersive music experience.

Key Responsibilities:

- Spearhead strategic marketing initiatives across digital, social, print, and radio platforms, utilizing analytics to measure campaign effectiveness and refine strategies for optimal impact.

- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, audience preferences, and explore new marketing opportunities.

- Maintain relationships with key marketing, media, and promotions partners, ensuring agreements are met and properly tracked. Seek and create new partnership and promotional opportunities.

- Curate and manage content for social media platforms, ensuring a dynamic and engaging online presence.

- Develop and coordinate product, event, or content email marketing campaigns for Surf Ballroom concerts and events, including the MEC/IMEX experience.

- Oversee use of Surf Ballroom brand and trademarks for consistency and quality, both internally and externally.

- Create, proofread, and edit copy for various marketing channels, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

- Monitor and respond to customer and visitor inquiries, comments, and messages via email and social media platforms.

- Assist in the creation and distribution of press releases and manage special projects as needed.

- Keep websites for Surf Ballroom and all NICCM controlled properties up to date.

- Monitor and adhere to applicable marketing budgets.

Box Office and Gift Shop Operations:

- Develop and execute strategies for recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers. Coordinate volunteer schedules and create positive volunteer experiences.

- Collaborate with department heads and box office staff to ensure smooth event announcements and ticketing processes.

- Ensure a positive entry experience for patrons attending Surf Ballroom concerts and events, handling any ticketing situations needing immediate resolution.

- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service to guests.

- Oversee gift shop operations, including inventory management and sales. Implement strategies to boost Surf merchandise sales.

- Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining databases, and creating/editing documents as requested.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Associates or Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, public relations, or related field.

- Demonstrated self-starter mentality with a high level of creativity.

- Comprehensive understanding of various marketing platforms, channels, and best practices.

- Customer service/hospitality-oriented with exceptional communication skills.

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrate time management skills, and meet deadlines.

- Experience in implementing process improvement strategies.

- Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.

- Proven experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies.

- Strong organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including outstanding copywriting and proofreading abilities.

- Experience in coordinating and promoting events through effective marketing campaigns is a plus.

- Working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript development is helpful.
