Your Responsibilities
As a Manufacturing / Quality Engineering (ME/QE) Team Leader for John Deere Dubuque Works located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will:
- Supervise, coach, train and provide work direction to a group of Manufacturing and Quality Engineers responsible for supporting Backhoe Fabrication Operations
- Be accountable for managing daily activities of engineers responsible for developing processes, tools and systems that drive efficient manufacture of current product, meeting operational execution demands while ensuring high standards on operational safety and building quality right the first time
- Lead the investigations on safety, quality, and operational issues related to product and processes, gather and analyze data/information necessary to facilitate implementation of effective corrective actions in a timely manner
- Support and enable business unit CI teams to achieve expected levels of performance
- Drive actions with high sense of urgency and foster creative mindset with an intentional focus on skill development
- Plan and manage overhead budget including staffing, materials, and services
- Integrate with new product development and factory master planning teams to develop and implement long term strategies
- Focus on business performance excellence through metrics on business unit scorecard
What Skills You Need
- Demonstrated experience with manufacturing systems; assembly, quality and fabrication processes; and manufacturing tools
- Demonstrated experience in investigating, analyzing, and resolving operational issues to correct inadequacies, reduce costs and improving performance
- Minimum 2 years of people leadership experience in an operations or factory support role
- Experience developing, executing, and managing production staffing and incentive pay plans such as CIPP
- Experience leading and participating in complex engineering projects and assignments
- Experience planning and implementing capital projects
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience in coaching, mentoring and developing salaried/professional employees
- Experience implementing automation/technology solutions in manufacturing operations
- Experience in use of quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), control plan, root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Experience working with a unionized production team
- Experience with Agile/Scrum process
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Technology discipline
