Job Summary:

The Managing Director, Public Sector will define and drive the long-term strategy and business plan for Equinix’s Public Sector business in the U.S. This Public Sector Leader will directly oversee the Federal Operations/PMO team and ensure cohesion and cross-functional interlock and alignment among the key teams engaged in the Public Sector across Equinix. There will be a focus on compliance, process, tooling and enablement. This leader will also collaborate with Equinix executive leadership to align Public Sector business success with that of the overall organization, including partnership across Sales, Legal, Marketing, and Operations teams. 

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Leadership 

• Design and execute a strategic business plan for the Public Sector business. 
• Establish a management structure for key decisions, policy review and approval, investment decisions, and operational compliance oversight. 
• Manage the Profit and Loss (P&L), overall success, quality control, and personnel management for the rapidly growing Public Sector business.
• Make investment and/or divestment decisions by determining key risks and potential financial returns in order to optimize resource alignment with fulfillment of strategic objectives. 
• Oversee Public Sector business compliance efforts based on applicable regulations and company policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
• Ensure that the entire organization has the direction, information, resources, and support to successfully execute the strategic vision.

Communication and Collaboration 

• Develop a communication strategy for the Public Sector business, including establishing and effectively communicating short and long-term goals.
• Collaborate with Equinix executive leadership to ensure that direction of Public Sector business is in line with overall Equinix strategic vision.
• Establish complementary practices and synergies where Public Sector business and Equinix commercial businesses take advantage of each other’s scale and established practices.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Strategic and transformational leader with 15+ years of organizational leadership and management experience within companies that serve the Public Sector (Federal and SLED) and Technology industry.
• Extensive experience leading complex organizations and providing solutions to the Public Sector, with a strong understanding of government contracting policies, processes, and operations.
• Established leader with exceptional ability to strategically plan, communicate and execute a vision.
• Strong track record of communicating and collaborating across all levels of the organization.
• Financial acumen and ability to connect strategic objectives to financial results.
• Ability to provide thought leadership, think strategically and effectively communicate vision and influence.
• Understanding of Public Sector environment, including unique regulatory requirements and implications for businesses operating in this environment.
