Job Title: Manager, Customer Supply Chain-Salty Snacks

Job Location: Hershey, PA


The preference for this role is to be local in Hershey/Austin or able to relocate to Hershey/Austin but we are also open to remote for the right candidate.


Role Summary:


This role leads the Customer Supply Chain engagement across the Hershey Salty DSD teams. The position requires broad based knowledge of supply chain with flexibility to balance both strategic opportunities and support the team with tactical challenges that arise on daily basis. Strong relationship and influencing skills are needed to work across the enterprise as daily interaction exists with customer supply partners, sales, commercial planning, finance, category teams, supply and demand planning, transportation, etc. This role will be a critical driver of customer supply chain strategies across DSD Customers for Hershey Salty. The Manager, Supply Chain will deliver improved case fill performance, on time delivery and reduced costs to serve through close partnership with commercial teams, supply chain stakeholders and customer partners. This individual will manage key supply chain activities to ensure flawless execution for their assigned customers. They will be responsible for aligning supply chain tactical and strategic imperatives, defining short-term and long-term supply chain vision, and implement strategies to achieve that vision.


Responsibilities:


  • Work with multi-function internal and external teams to ensure excellence in replenishment and planning actions and insights for promotions, seasons, and planogram changes. Specific activities include the communication of promotion items and quantities, creation and execution of seasonal push-pull strategies for everyday items and forecasting and management of new and deleted items.
  • Maximize selling opportunities: Use insights derived from retail data to drive retail in-stock and sales. Through detailed understanding of customer forecasts and distribution network configuration and practices, assist Sales and Category Strategy to promote proper volume allocation and timing of inventory.
  • Manage and develop scorecards for key customers to highlight metrics, shortfalls, and action items as needed to correct course. Lead the relationship with Key Customer Replenishment Managers, Sales Teams, and Buyers through regular weekly supply chain related discussion.
  • Establish and monitor progress against key milestones in the life cycle of all promotion events, modular transitions, and item changes. Lead regular multi-function meetings, to identify potential problems, implement corrective actions, and update all affected parties to protect customer on-shelf commitments.
  • Monitor fill rates, on-time delivery, inventory levels, service to retail partners and waste for assigned customers. Develop the tools and processes to deliver reliable results and drive corrective action. Formulate and execute special warehousing, transportation, and packaging initiatives as needed based on company directives.
  • Represent Salty on all relevant special projects and customer initiatives. Through customer interaction and regular benchmarking, develop and maintain a focus on customer’s strategic direction to educate and prepare internal constituents and actively participate in strategic programs when there is a demonstrated benefit to the total supply chain.

  • Monitor fill rate violations, ASN and OTIF fines, and shortage/transportation violations. Identify opportunities for improvement and dispute invalid charges.
  • Track item/DC out of stock issues, work cross functionally to develop a solution, and communicate recovery timeline.
  • Reconcile demand/forecast alignment between Salty Supply Chain, Salty Sales, and assigned customer.
  • Lead formal internal and external meetings and events to manage peer relationships and facilitate business planning.
  • 35% travel required to attend in-person meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain or Business Administration
  • Prefer 5-10 years of Supply Chain experience.
  • Disposition to engage with customer at all levels of their organization (replenishment analyst to SVP)
  • Demonstrated ability of managing operational details, while also understanding big picture
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with internal and customer partners at all levels. Able to integrate feedback and adjust plans accordingly. Deep experience with quantitative analysis, creative problem solving, and complex project management.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments, bring structure, prioritize, and drive to results
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships and influence cross-functional leaders
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Proficient understanding of fundamental business management and supply chain principles and concepts
  • Global systems thinking – understands complex interaction of processes, information systems, and organizations
  • Thorough grasp of key internal and customer forecasting, order generation, and order fulfillment processes
  • Ability to lead multi-functional project teams
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong working knowledge in ERP systems and tools
  • Ability to maintain focus on Salty goals and improvements
  • Ability to present complex solution in an executive summary
  • Strong project management capabilities
