Maintenance Technician

We currently seek a Maintenance Technician to join our division located in Somerset, NJ, and help support our continued business growth.
A multi-disciplined, general maintenance technician will be responsible for performing general duties/repairs in the manufacturing, office, building, and ground areas of OFS Somerset. The General Maintenance person(s) must be knowledgeable of hand and power tool operation and have a basic knowledge of HVAC (air conditioning), electrical, plumbing, and minor carpentry. The candidate is expected to operate semi-autonomously, following company and industry standard procedures to maintain a safe and professional working environment at all times.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Day to day maintenance of lighting, machine lubrication, HVAC (air conditioning) systems, chillers, boilers, plumbing and miscellaneous (door lock repair, painting, hanging signs, preventive maintenance on equipment)
- Lighting maintenance: Replacing bulbs and ballast as needed, conducting annual blanket bulb replacement of all offices, properly disposing of all used light bulbs, and maintaining emergency lighting inspection and repair
- Machine Lubrication: Lubricating machines according to the daily, weekly, and monthly schedules (checking levels, sampling or changing, greasing all fittings and inspecting belts for wear)
- Interface with equipment operators and maintenance staff to ascertain problems with equipment
- Involvement in planning, fabricating and installing new equipment/equipment upgrades
- Plumbing and pump maintenance: Repairs and maintains heat and chiller pumps, piping, toilets & dispensers in all buildings, changes water filters in all water fountains and sinks, unclogs drains as needed. Air Scrubber and water neutralization tanks maintenance.
- HVAC Maintenance and repair: Replaces filters in all buildings, checks and replaces fan belt as needed, cleans condenser coils and brushes out evaporator coils
- Expected to actively participate in breakdown analysis, design for maintainability, kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives
- Adhere to all safety programs and policies
- Work closely and professionally with internal customers to meet safety, production and equipment reliability goals
- Perform other related duties as required by management
Key qualifications include:
- High school diploma required. Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate preferred
- Two to three years and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, Black seal a plus
- Experience in lubrication requirements and manufacturing equipment procedures (i.e. handling, tagging, and disposal of waste oils)
- General understanding and hands on experience with safe work environments. Knowledge of applicable NEC and NFPA codes
- Knowledge of single and three phase electric, replacing of motors, motor starters, relays, switches, and basic VFD
- Knowledge of hand and power tool operations
- Knowledge of HVAC (Air conditioning), plumbing, and minor carpentry
- Availability to work overtime and/or occasional off-shift repair calls
- Machining and/or welding experience a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with managers and team members
