Weekend 12 hour shifts (Fri, Sat, Sun or Sat, Sun, Mon) 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Applicant will train on 1st Shift (7:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m.) Monday -Friday and then transition to their weekend shift.
Pratt & Whitney is planning to invest at least $650 million through 2027 in a world-class turbine airfoil production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The new, 1,000,000-square-foot facility will house an advanced casting foundry to produce turbine airfoils as well as conduct machining, coating and finishing of airfoils onsite. The new, state-of-the-art facility will implement best-in-class manufacturing technologies and processes exemplifying industry 4.0 manufacturing principles and will complement existing turbine airfoil work that is done across Pratt & Whitney's facilities.
Do you enjoy the challenges of machine maintenance and equipment reliability? We are seeking highly motivated, technically talented individuals for troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of production machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily standard work and complex operations successfully.
- Install and maintain equipment to manufacturer's specifications and test for proper performance.
- Perform regular scheduled TPM, machine checks and execute repairs.
- Respond to production emergencies, report any potentially dangerous situations.
- Read and interpret regulations, blueprints, schematics, service manuals, and process sheets.
- Check operation of support/facilities equipment.
- Independently handle projects from start to finish (materials, fabrication/installation and implementation).
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and power transmission systems using multi-meters, pressure/vacuum/flow gauges, and temperature/humidity recording gauges to known historical standards to insure proper performance.
- MIG/ TIG Welding, fabrication, basic machining.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School or General Equivalency Diploma.
- Must be a United States citizen due to government contracts.
- 3+ years knowledge as a multi-craft technician in the following fields: basic mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, electrical, automation, and PLC/CNCs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mechatronics degree or technical aptitude with desire to learn new skills.
- Ability to diagnose and repair problems with electronic controls and associated systems relative to industrial equipment operations (Motor Controls, Programmable Controls, CNC Controls, Relay Logic, HV/DC Power Supplies).
- Excellent mechanical knowledge, skills, and ability.
- Knowledge and use of precision measuring devices.
- Familiar with OSHA and general safety practices.
- Computer proficiency and Microsoft Office experience.
- Ability to prioritize and adjust schedule to meet production needs.
- Good communication skills, following verbal and written instructions.
- Proactively support an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
- Work organized, clean and detailed.
- Quick learner and self-starter, minimal supervision required.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible, available for OT.

We've introduced role types to help you understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is Onsite. Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.
