The Maintenance Specialist - I&E modifies, and/or installs plant equipment including electrical repairs on motors, blowers, and analyzers. Maintains and repairs plant wide SCADA system including programming of the programmable logic controllers (PLC's). Must be able to read manuals, P&IDs, loop drawings, keep accurate records, update files and maintain the plants PM work order system. Performs calibrations, maintenance, and repairs to level switches, pressure switches, flow meters, actuators, and analyzers. Prepares bid tabulations for materials, equipment and services. Performs electrical work from 24v DC to 480 AC. Knowledge of DCS & PLCs, VFDs, and motor starters. Must be safety minded and adhere to all safety rules and policies. Must be a self-starter and able to perform duties with little to no supervision. Must be able to collaborate with engineering consultants, plant operations staff, and all city departments.
- Performs electrical work on equipment from 24v DC to 480 AC.
- Maintains and repairs SCADA system. Maintains and programs PLC's, and HMI software.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains various electrical systems.
- Keeps accurate records, update files and maintain the plants PM system, and closes work orders.
- Reads O&M manuals, P&IDs, and loop drawings.
- Calibrates, maintains, and repairs analyzers, transmitters, sensors, control valves, and cathodic protection devices.
- Coordinates contractor's activities with operations. Supervises contractors working in the plant and inspects their work.
- Locates vendors and prepares bid tabulations for parts, materials, or equipment needed.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) plus specialized technical courses.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must obtain TCEQ Grade "C" surface water certificate in two years from date in position.
- One year or more of related experience.
PREFERRED:
- Associate Degree in industrial instrumentation electronics from an accredited school.
- 3+ years of directly related experience.
- Experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software such as VT SCADA.
- Specialized computer maintenance courses, or five years experience.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
