QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent; ability to keep required work records. At least 3 years experience in one of the following trades: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or Carpentry. Ability to read blueprints, estimate materials, supplies and costs. Ability to climb and work from ladders, portable stairs, and scaffolding; ability to lift and/or carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) for more than 20 feet; willing to work in undesirable locations/conditions. Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions and perform work assignments in a timely and effective manner.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Direct the work of other skilled or semi-skilled staff for specified projects.
- Mentor new and existing staff in work methods to ensure conformance with accepted standards including all ADA code requirements.
- Respond to emergency calls as required.
- Operate and maintain the following equipment: heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, freezers, water coolers, electrical, kitchen, sanitation systems, and water supply systems.
- Install commercial HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Kitchen, and other equipment.
- Perform inspections on boiler and heating safety devices to ensure good working order and record all inspections and maintenance performed.
- Perform rough and finished carpentry.
- Use shop equipment and power tools such as drills, saws, sanders, planers, air nailers, routers, and radial arm saws.
- Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water, heating, and drainage systems.
- Install pre-hung slab, wood-framed and metal doors and window frames.
- Repair or replace leaking and defective roofing using materials such as roll roofing, roof coating, primer sealers, flashing, etc. and install roofing tiles.
- Identify expired/damaged fire extinguishers, remove for pickup and notify vendor for replacement and repair.
- Repair and make adjustments to doors, door checks, and locks.
- Repair window frames, tables, chairs, and other wooden equipment.
- Make routine electrical repairs such as replacing cooler motors, exhaust fans, lighting fixtures, electrical outlets, appliances, light switches and ballasts, etc.
- Estimate and requisition necessary materials and supplies.
- Operate Board-owned vehicle in a safe manner; assume responsibility for all supplies and equipment on the vehicle.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner.
- Participate in training to increase the skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Implement and adhere to appropriate safety procedures and crisis emergency plans to create and sustain a secure and healthy learning environment consistent with district and school rules, policies, and procedures.
- Carry out duties in accordance with federal and state laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established state and local policies, regulations, and practices.
- Perform, professionally and efficiently, all other duties as assigned.
