The Client Engagement Manager (CEM) will be responsible for the operational management of M&A People projects. This role will support the Client Engagement Leader (CEL) working in collaboration with the People Team Centers of Excellence (COE)s and acquired entity with overall responsibility as follows:

  • Day-to-day operational management of a transaction from diligence through People integration
  • Strategically partners with client engagement lead and key stakeholders to guide diligence and integration SMEs through the deal lifecycle
  • Understands the key steps, activities, and work required to move through each phase of the transaction
  • Ensure deal value creation and employee experience are at the forefront of diligence & integration planning
  • Breadth of experience across different lines of business and different types of transaction
  • Brings consistency and rigor to the processes and tools that are leveraged in the deal lifecycle
  • Supports highly complex deals; requiring proactive problem solving & needs anticipation 
  • Requires strong partnership across key stakeholders; ability to influence in a matrixed environment
  • Supports multiple transactions, in various stages of the deal lifecycle, at any given point in time

Primary Responsibilities:

  •  Partner with CEL to deliver against deal strategy, from diligence through People integration
    • Support People CEL with functional risk analysis summary and cost model
    • Support identification of critical path plan, key milestones, risks, and considerations for People integration
    • Kick-off People integration activities, guiding and advising SMEs to deliver in accordance with deal strategy & value creation
  • Develop and manage workplan, driven off glide path and journey map from CEL
  • Manage day-to-day execution, tracking, and risk mitigation of activities from diligence through People integration
  • Stand up operating mechanisms/rhythms for each deal (e.g., governance, meeting cadence, data access)
  • Document and memorialize key decisions and deals
  • Proactively communicate and take action on key decisions
  • Drive post-People integration lessons learned and identification of continuous improvement opportunities
  • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years of Human Capital/People Team experience 
  • 3 years of project management experience using data and information to make business decisions 
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Proven self-starter and takes initiative; seeks understanding and clarification to validate understanding
  • Demonstrated track record successfully maintaining and influencing internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Experience working in complex matrix environment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality 
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California/Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada/New York City/Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
