Job description

The Logistics Support Specialist is responsible for providing support to BBWs transportation planning and the end-to-end execution of merchandise and non-merchandise shipments with origins and destinations throughout North America, along with various customer service and operational responsibilities associated with inbound and outbound transportation. This role's responsibilities involve load planning support, monitoring/providing feedback on in-transit or completed shipments and working closely with all internal/external partners and carriers to manage the overall needs of the business. Seasonal Support are also responsible for supporting accurate shipment billing and transportation performance within the Domestic Transportation Network; this includes supporting billing/invoicing processing and troubleshooting, supporting systemic enhancements in partnership with technology teams, and various ad-hoc reporting requests to help achieve service goals and shipping efficiency. This role is directly responsible for making decisions for each shipment planned through the Domestic Transportation network, leveraging various tools to determine the best choice of service provider given service, capacity, and cost expectations.

 

 

  • Oversight of load planning, routing, and tendering of shipments containing non-store ready/store ready freight to be warehoused or supplied. Shipment origins & destinations are within various regions of the US, Canada, and Mexico. Shipping sites include brand DC's, Regional Distribution Centers (RDC), Delivery Agents and various third-party vendors
  • Assure compliance to active carrier awards and complete regular checks against expectations in collaboration with supervisor and greater management team
  • Support execution of planning and delivery of shipments from RTS/scheduled shipping request, through assignment/tendering to carriers to delivery/completion of shipment at receiving destination
  • Actively engage with carriers to ensure timely pickup/delivery performance and solve any shipping/receiving issues to ensure service expectations are met
  • Collaborate with internal and external supply chain partners on resolving various issues, shipment planning escalations, and other special programs in support of best meeting business needs       
  • Develop and support strategic load planning processes and procedures to promote operational efficiencies
  • Effectively communicate daily transportation priorities to various internal and external partners to ensure department service goals are met
  • Through managing the daily operations, identify possible service/carrier/equipment issues and provide timely analysis and communication to the Supervisor and other department leaders
  • Support North American Logistics Team with ad-hoc reporting, analysis, load tracking & tracing, systemic updates, claims, and EDI accountability with follow-up as needed
  • Collaborate with other internal logistics teams (Delivery Agents/RDC/Columbus Corporate DCs/Parcel) to execute on various logistics needs
  • Support Freight Accounting team with load cost spotting and accessorial processing
  • Support Trailer Pool/Yard/Trailer Tracking activity as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Transportation, Logistics, or another relevant business discipline is highly preferred
  • Prior experience in customer service is required
  • Prior experience in transportation is preferred
  • Pursues work with energy, drive, and a strong accomplishment orientation
  • Possesses integrity, interpersonal and solid communication skills
  • Operates successfully within a team and among a variety of both internal and external customers
  • Demonstrates ability to be agile and organized within a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple assignments/priorities
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency through timely follow-up and follow-thought on all assignments to drive or achieve resolution
  • Effective communication, both written and oral, and a strong ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving work environment
  • Possesses working knowledge and experience with technology and systems applications used to support transportation planning and operations (Excel, Access, and Transportation Management Systems)
  • Familiarity with government regulations including Customs, DOT, and HazMat is beneficial
