Summary

The Logistics and Outside Warehousing Manager directs and coordinates activities relating to the planning, procurement, controlling, storage, and distribution of materials and product meeting the company needs and customer requirements. This position will work closely with operations managers to support manufacturing requirements. This position will utilize data to plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufacturing products in a timely manager via the best carrier method.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan and manage logistics and carrier methods.
  • Direct, optimize, and coordinate full shipment cycle.
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, members, and other internal staff.
  • Keep track of delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency.
  • Resolve any problems and complaints.
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets.
  • Manage staffing: hiring, scheduling, and workload planning within the department.
  • Manage department budget and expenses.
  • Support company goals of delivery cost reduction, asset utilization, and customer service enhancements.
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements.
  • Comply with laws, regulations, and other requirements.
  • Work well with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality environment.
  • Excellent regular full-time attendance in support of company objectives.
  • Use initiative and judgment in making decisions, keeping with California Dairies, Inc. best interests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a manager in a Supply Chain related field
  • Must have strong people management and logistics/distribution experience
  • Knowledge of freight carriers for products truck, rail, sea and air
  • Demonstrable ability to lead
  • Proficient software and knowledgeable of ERP Systems interface
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
  • Knowledge in logistics management and DOT regulations
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must have ability to communicate and work with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to perform tasks with a high level of confidentiality
  • Must be flexible and positive in a fast-paced and ever changing environment


Education and/or Experience

  • BS in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in routing and delivery.
  • 5+ years of Management experience.
  • Project Management or Process Improvement experience preferred.
  • Analytical and creative problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel at a minimum.


Language Skills

A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed.

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

  • Pushing/Pulling: Some pushing or pulling is involved when assisting staff.
  • Bending/Stooping: Bends and stoops minimally throughout the workday.

  • Twisting/Turning: Assumes any combination of these positions during duties.
  • Climbing/Balancing: Minimal climbing and balancing is required.
  • Reaching: Reaches at or above shoulder level at various times during the shift.
  • Grasping/Manipulating: Grasping and manipulating of papers, objects, and equipment will be required. Ability to keyboard for data input will be required on an ongoing basis.

Employees will be subject to a variance of temperatures in the Warehouse. Employee may be required to enter confined spaces to perform equipment inspections. Employee may come into contact with the following: ammonia, acids, caustics, chlorines, and other related chemicals. Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to: hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and safety glasses must be used in the performance of duties. Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
