We have an immediate opening for a Logistics and Inventory Specialist at our corporate warehouse.
Hours are 7:30 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday
Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, and with safety, efficiency, and customer service a priority, the Logistics and Inventory Specialist is accountable to facilitate the timely flow of order processing, freight quotes, truck design and scheduling. Monthly cycle counting and inventory management. They will also be responsible for cycle counting and inventory management functions. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate transportation of materials and manage the timely flow of customer orders while adhering to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, facilitate the shipping and/or receiving of products to and from the warehouse on behalf of customers.
- Complete documentation such as pick lists, bills of lading, work orders and shipping orders using computer-based technology
- Coordinate imports and exports.
- Process all international required paperwork such as SLI, detailed pack lists etc.
- Develop positive relationships with freight and external logistics companies.
- Freight quotes for various departments
- Investigate and recommend optimal shipping options and coordinate with vendors.
- Coordinate and communicate with external parties to ensure acquisition and delivery of shipments.
- Ensure shipping compliance with state, federal, and international regulations.
- Dispatch freight for delivery and arrange for pickups
- Record shipment data such as weight, charges, and damages
- Arrange transportation and forwarding services for all orders to ensure material is delivered as per schedule.
- Rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications
- Document and escalate any customer service issue and/or shipping/receiving errors
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with those on your team, as well as cross-functionally
- Review expediting schedules on all customer orders.
- Responsible for all duty customs sales and tax functions, including certification and verification, drawback, and compliance with governmental agencies.
- Review freight rates: air, courier, and land.
- Liaise with freight forwarder, Sales, and Project Planning
- Maintain inventory accuracy at 98% through monthly cycle counting methods
- Verify, track and report on inventory.
- Coordinate and direct the activities related with keeping accurate records on the incoming as well as outgoing shipments and preparing the items so that they can be shipped.
- Review documentation and monitor product codes to search for discrepancies; troubleshoot quantity discrepancies between stock and records
- Develop and implement improvements to existing operational procedures in order to maximize efficiency and cut operations costs
- Track rates of accuracy, purchase, and return as well as defective items to inform quality control decisions
- Prepare, generate, and file financial inventory reports, review reports monthly with management
- Help maintain/manage racking system in the warehouse
- Research and correct all inventory discrepancies
- Review QA Hold and QC locations in warehouse with Management monthly
Essential Skills:
- 2-4-year degree in related field; or equivalent training and experience
- 5+ years of experience in warehousing, shipping, inventory control or materials management in a manufacturing environment
- Forklift experience and a valid driver's license is required
- Ability read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal groups, clients, customers, and the public.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under strict deadlines
- Demonstrated excellent (English language) oral and written communication skills to effectively interface with customers and all levels of Brentwood management and staff as required
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages etc.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
