JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assists the physician in the delivery of nursing care and patient education. The LVN is required to interview patients, perform treatments, distribute medications, document medical records and coordinate care for a group of patients
The clinic LVN works closely with physicians and patients and must exhibit effective communication skills as well as caring professionalism when dealing with patients and their families. The LVN must also communicate and work well with other physicians, departmental personnel, and health care professionals.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Specific:
- Interview patients, obtaining vital signs, such as pulse, blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and documenting information in the patient’s chart. (EF)
- Prepare treatment room for patient examinations. (EF)
- Operate EKG and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests; also, coordinate scheduling for patients receiving tests outside the clinic. (EF)
- Evaluate patients under incident to Pro-Time clinic, monitoring the toxicity titration of prescribed medication, and follows-up appropriately. (EF)
- Return patient phone calls, and call patients with test results. (EF)
- Authorize prescription refills. (EF)
- Complete all documentation associated with aforementioned responsibilities with in E-md. (EF)
- Keep all areas stocked and neat in appearance. (EF)
- Maintains continuing education. (EF)
Hospital:
- Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Performs within his/her professional Scope of Practice at all times.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse by the state of Texas
PREFERRED:
- At least one year experience in a physician's office or a clinic setting preferred.
