- Administer medications, treatments, and other therapies as directed and by following applicable policies and procedures.
- Transcribe and verify practitioner orders according to applicable policies and procedures.
- Order and obtain necessary medications, supplies, and/or equipment according to facility policy and procedures.
- Provide teaching materials appropriate to the individual client needs; collaborating with primary care practitioners as indicated.
- Demonstrate ability of critical thinking including (but not limited to) symptoms and processes of physical illness.
- Collect data relating to client's individual needs or observations and report findings related to changes in the clients' behavioral or physical condition to the RN.
- Provide care appropriate for the client population and individual age-specific needs.
- Complete audits according to policies and procedures.
- Document: data collection, focused assessments, medication administrations and other therapies; responses to medication therapies; provided education; audit results; and changes to the client's health status according to policies and procedures.
- Complete all required data collections, focused assessments, reports, charting, and assigned responsibilities within specified time frames.
- Implement nursing interventions identified in the nursing plan of care or based on the client's practitioner orders.
- Observe client's response to implemented interventions and notify RN of observations.
- Communicate and collaborate with the client, members of the health services department, clinical and other members of the treatment team as needed.
- Coordinate clinic (including, but not limited to: scheduling, completing appointment slips, printing daily schedules, inventorying supplies, assisting practitioner as needed, and other tasks as assigned).
- Manage and/or assist with coordination of psychiatric services, including (but not limited to): scheduling appointments, facilitating appointments, communicating changes, monitoring Tardive Dyskinesia testing, ensuring all forms remain current, and other tasks as indicated.
- Review client medical requests, meet with clients, and intervene as appropriate.
- Communicate client needs to the medical practitioners.
- Check MARs monthly for accuracy prior to implementing.
- Perform all duties abiding by the Nurse Practice Act standards.
- Encourage client participation and cooperation with medical recommendations.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

The person in this position reports through the organizational structure of the Department of Nursing and in return receives information by the same route. Clear, comprehensive shift reports are needed. This position requires communication with other team members, medical practitioners, and other departments in order to coordinate services to the clients. A vital communication mode is documentation in medical records and other forms relating to client care and facility requirements.
