Job Description
Legal Recruiting Manager needed to work out of one the East Coast offices of an AmLaw 200 firm.
At least 5 years of legal recruiting experience at an AmLaw Firm, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Recruiting
o Lead the legal recruiting function across multiple offices for lateral associate hires, summer associates, legal interns and temporary attorneys, Including overseeing the interview and offer process.
o Participate in Hiring Committee meetings, including candidate deliberations and decision-making.
o Utilize legal search software and internal referral program and network to facilitate the identification of potential candidates for open positions or to meet strategic initiatives.
o Increase and enhance knowledge of the Firm through the fostering of relationships with outside recruiters and law schools. Manage relationships with local publications, social media sites, professional organizations, and other resources for posting and distributing associate job ads. Negotiate recruiting agreements, track candidate submissions, and ensure timely payment of vendor invoices.
o Oversee recruiting database, reporting on evaluation of candidates, for law schools, NALP, and internal reporting, including yearly updates to NALP forms and legal employer directories
Summer Associate Program and First Year Associates
o Oversee the OCI process.
o Manage the summer associate program, including orientation, events, training, and summer associate work coordinator and mentoring programs.
o Gather feedback on summer associate performance and participate in mid and end-of-program summer associate evaluations.
o Collaborate with the team to plan the orientation and onboarding for first-year associates.
o Serve as a go-to resource for summer and first-year associates.
Additional Responsibilities
o Supervise the Legal Recruiting Coordinator in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Lateral Partner Recruiting.
o Work with Firm management to set and oversee Associate Recruiting Budget.
o Track recruiting statistics for diversity reporting purposes.
Requirements
o At least 5 years of legal recruiting experience at an AmLaw Firm, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
o A bachelor’s degree is required; a J.D. or other advanced degree is preferred
o Understands attorneys, law firms, law students, and the legal recruiting market
o Strong leadership, interpersonal, and management skills
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Pro-active, self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented
o Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands on time
o Ability to travel to other offices as needed, particularly the Hartford office during the summer program if not based in that office
