Job description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Farm to School Learning Facilitator Coordinates the implementation of the Distrcits Farm-to-School Education Program, including developing and implementing curriculum, lessons and classroom activities for Klamath County School District Schools. The Facilitater would need to travel regionally using his or her own vehicle.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Necessarily Limited To)

  1. Assist in developing and conducting approved trainings for food sevice staff, and safetly preparing, serving and promoting regionally and school-sourced food in the cafeteria.
  2. Facilitate collaboration between school food service and agriculture-based leadership programs to establish systems and policies for safe food production, processing, storage and distribution at school sites.
  3. Support school garden team development, trainings, lesson plans, and assist with garden implementation and maintainance.
  4. Implement approved k-6 direct garden educaion activities and curricula.
  5. Contributing to equity, inclusion and diversity as part of educational delivery and programming and document these efforts to evaluate the impact
  6. Assist in developing and conducting trainings for school staff and students on safetly preparing, serving and promoting regionally and school-based foods in the cafeteria
  7. Assist in development and distribution of approved educational materials for schools such as displays, handouts, social media, featured recipes/menus, videos etc. that promote regionally and school based foods and food producers.
  8. Assist in coordinating Farm-to-School promotional events such as cafeteria tasting, farmer visits, farm field trips, etc.
  9. Assist in collecting, analyzing and reporting quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the impact of the project.
  10. Attend meetings and conferences to report on the Farm-to-School pormotional events including but not limited to the Klamath County School Board, Klamath County Wellness Committee and Klamath County Food Policy Council, Oregon Farm to School and School Garden Network Conference, Oregon School Nutrtioan Association Conference, Klamath County Find Your Farmer Event, Klamath County Farm Expo, etc.
  11. Collaborate with community partners on current food education and curriculum such as OSU Extension
  12. Verifies approved group/class nutrition topics with site contact and assists in preperation and ordering of approved instructional supplies needed.
  13. Works as part of a team to implement strategies in the school enviorments to support and encourage healthy habits
  14. Assist in ensuring that all garden volunteers have approved volunteer status with KCSD
  15. Conduct assesments to evaluate and measure the impact of school gardes on student learning
  16. Assist in developing and releasing a quarterly Farm to School Newsletter.
