HOW A Lead Enterprise Architect MAKES AN IMPACT
At GDIT a Lead Enterprise Architect provides technical and process leadership to integrate ideas with program execution; we bring together concepts, strategy, operations, technologies, and solutions. The Army's Secure Internet Protocol Modernization program effort is in direct support of the Department of the Army, Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems, PM Global Enterprise Network Modernization Americas implements the Army's Global Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) Network Program (A-GSN). GDIT will provide an Enterprise look to modernization and will bring together commercial and government solutions to modernize and secure the backbone of the Army's classified network.
The SIPRNet is a classified network, used for Command and Control (C2), that is part of the larger Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) and extends into the Army's portion of the DoDIN (referred to as the DoDIN-A). The Global SIPR Network will be a network of, at a minimum, 6 globally dispersed nodes that enable SIPR connectivity in all theaters. This program has an objective requirement to scale to 150,000 SIPR virtual desktop infrastructure users, enable the mission partner environment through Multiple Independent Levels of Security, and provide connectivity to multiple types of users through multi-site or End User Device connectivity. The program globally will provide improved SIPR Multi-site, mobility access, wireless, and data- at-rest capabilities using Nation Security Agency (NSA) approved Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) Network.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Define, maintain, and communicate the overarching program solution
  • Develop concepts, Analysis, and Design of high availability classified enterprise infrastructure with seamless integration of classified cloud and edge services; Evaluate cloud and cloud edge services for adoption and integration with on premise solutions. Consider RMF and CSfC registration implications of solution alternatives. Analyze and evaluate total cost of ownership and pricing models
  • Collaborate with GDIT and teammate Subject Matter Experts within and external to the program and maintain current technology awareness; Provide broad technical guidance to the team in areas of cloud, networking, classified systems architecture, MILS/MLS, and COTS/GOTS solutions; Represent the GDIT team on enterprise level boards
  • Integrate multiple enterprise scale CSfC capability packages, security suites, and virtual infrastructure
  • Drive scalability. Design enterprise automation and integration suites. Develop standard operating procedures and system documentation
  • Provide concept, strategy, and architecture guidance to the program manager and the technical team. Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
  • Provide high-level design objectives to meet client and organization work goals and serve as a liaison with clients to coordinate activities, negotiate tasks, and solve problems.
  • Assure quality of program products, services, and deliverables, including participating in reviews, audits, and site visits.
  • Perform business development activities at all stages, to include identifying opportunities to integrate with other customer products
  • Develop, review, and approve plans, schedules, and other program documents.
  • Prepare and provide various reports and technical reviews to senior management as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant corporate and government policies and standards.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
    SCOPE: Manage a large team of multiple disciplines including Telecommunications Enterprise IT (ITSM) and Cybersecurity Services. Schedule execution of implementation activities with high complexity. Be responsible for program(s) with annual revenues of $250-500 million.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCEED:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institute in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent experience. An advanced technical degree is highly desired.
  • Required Experience: 10+ years of increasingly responsible, architecturally oriented engineering roles in disciplines such as systems engineering, systems integration, infrastructure engineering, Information Security, and IT networks implementation, clout native architecture, application containerization
  • Required Technical Skills: Ten or more years systems architecture experience across numerous technology platforms
  • Security Clearance Level: DoD SECRET Clearance Required; TS preferable
Required Skills and Abilities:
Enterprise architecture methodologies and tools. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills applied to the development and presentation of technical materials appropriate to a broad spectrum of audiences.
  • Knowledge of Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework.
  • Design of Information Technology roadmaps
  • Demonstrated ability to be a trusted advisor
  • Understanding of Army policies, organization, and processes. Integration and alignment of Army policies, organizational constructs, and processes
  • DoD IAT Level II or higher
Preferred Skills:
  • A Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • High degree of independent action and initiative to resolve issues
  • Understanding of Army Networks construction, Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) commercial products
  • DOD IAT level III qualified
Location: Hybrid, frequent travel within the Northern Virginia area and at implementation site required
