Tech II or III Certified (minimum) Indigo Operator
SUMMARY
Primarily operates, maintains, and repairs Indigo Press, but occasionally may assist with various other machinery including: Offset printing presses, Digital presses, Laminator machines, Die cut machines and any other machines or equipment required for creation, staging, folding, scoring, cutting, production or shipping of product by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Works scheduled shifts and overtime as needed to meet deadlines, keep Indigo machines functioning properly, or assist other Indigo operators.
Provides preventative maintenance to Indigo machines.
Repairs Indigo machines.
Trouble-shoots issues for other Indigo Operators.
Collects paper and/or pre-printed blanks from staging shelf for each press run.
Applies ink
Prints proof sheet and examines to determine position using a line gauge.
Adjusts paper to position as per customer specification.
Adjusts press inking and water controls as well as paper feed and delivery.
Runs and maintains Indigo Press and all related.
Checks for 14 points of quality and adjusts as needed. Runs press while continuing to check for quality, making adjustments as needed. Inspects product for smears, stains, uniform shading, and contrast.
Cleans entire work area, including press, at end of shift.
Periodically washes and cleans Indigo machines.
ATTENDANCE/PUNCTUALITY You are expected to be reliable and punctual in reporting for scheduled shifts. In the rare instance when you cannot avoid being late or are unable to work as scheduled, you must notify your supervisor as soon as possible in advance of the anticipated tardiness or absence. Poor attendance and excessive tardiness may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
You are required to take a 30 minute mandatory break if you work eight hours or more.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to read and speak English. Ability to read two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and distance. Ability to read a line gauge in inches, points and picas.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to understand and communicate orally or in writing. The employee is required to stand throughout the shift and is frequently required to walk. The employee is required to bend and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. You will be exposed to ink and other chemicals; you may get ink on your skin and/or clothing.
