The Laundry Supervisor reports directly to the Assistant Housekeeping Manager and is responsible for overseeing daily laundry par levels, log inventory and manage laundry attendants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervise, train and develop laundry staff
- Conduct monthly environmental safety training sessions
- Conduct weekly machine, equipment and procedure training sessions
- Ensure all laundry staff are following proper procedures and protocols
- Lead departmental line-ups daily
- Create weekly schedules
- Monitor and conduct monthly inventory of linen and terry
- Monitor all equipment to ensure it is working correctly
- Cleaning and proper care of commercial laundry press, dryers and washers
- Monitor chemical levels and consumption
- Conduct weekly chemical inventories and assist management with chemical ordering
- Train laundry staff on quality control of all linens and conduct weekly quality control inspections of all linens
- Maintain inventory of discard linens and analyze trends
- Washing and folding of linen
- Report any linen/inventory shortages to appropriate manager
- Report any safety or security issues to the appropriate manager or supervisor
- In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards
- Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school or equivalent education required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to communicate in English to management, co-workers and to guests
- Prior experience in a hotel, preferable luxury experience
- Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept constructive criticism from managers.
- Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to coach and train service professionals
- Must be able to interview, hire and document service professionals
