DSFederal, Inc. is seeking a Junior Storage Administrator to support our federal client. The Storage Administrator will provide support managing on-premises systems such as NetApp, and Panasas utilizing various security controls.


Duties and Responsibilities

  Assist in the management and configuration of very large on-premises object/s3 and NAS storage systems from vendors such as NetApp, Cloudian, Panasas, VAST, and more.

Daily tasks include assisting with storage systems provisioning, monitoring, upgrading, configuration management, troubleshooting, documentation, and maintenance.

Work with storage vendor support teams to find resolutions to storage system bugs and other issues

Take direction from the team lead and senior personnel to work within a team-environment to achieve organizational goals.

Use and maintain custom tools in Python, Perl, or Bash to automate storage management and monitoring.

Perform standard storage administration tasks (e.g. replacing failed drives, allocating new views/buckets/volumes, updating quotas, assigning/updating data ownership, and permissions). 

Learn new technologies and skills.

Use common monitoring tools like Splunk, Grafana, and Nagios to monitor system alerts and performance

Document procedures, systems, services, and software.

Provide storage support to NCBI's internal developers and researchers.

Provide technical solutions to a wide range of problems and user requests through an established trouble ticketing system.


Requirements

Eager to learn new skills and technologies.

Entry level experience with Storage Systems administration, or other large scale enterprise systems experience (1+ years)

Familiarity with common storage system concepts such as POSIX filesystem data ownership and permissions, quotas, snapshots, RAID, erasure coding, and mirroring

Comfortable with Unix/Linux command line tools

General understanding of TCP/IP and related network and storage services and protocols (NFS, CIFS, S3, IAM, AD/LDAP, NTP, etc.).

Comfortable working with users of varying levels of IT knowledge.

Able to work with supervision on assigned tasks, and work with others both within and outside of the team.

Amazon/Google Cloud experience preferred
