Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking professionals with a background in Information Technology support for an exciting opportunity as a Cloud Systems Administrator with our Operations Team which provides support to a large group of software developers and engineers. Our IT Operations staff are valued members of the team tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects.
The successful applicant will:
Administer, develop, configure, implement, and maintains the systems that comprise the underlying cloud platform. Maintain public and/or private cloud systems and deploy them in an automated way; monitor, move, and alter the systems using a prescribed methodology.
Establish and implement standards for cloud operations according to specifications and parameters. Determine business needs and select and support tools to meet them.
Maintain and build upon existing network and domain environments. Serve as front-line point of contact for end users and customers looking for technical assistance via phone, e-mail, and ticketing system. Triage problem tickets and outage reports and escalate as needed. Document and assist with streamlining technical processes.
Junior Cloud Systems Administrator – Tier 1 Support Position Requirements:
- Eligibility to apply for and hold a US security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)
- BS or higher in computer science, IT, engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related field
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience
- Be able to work 100% on-site, no remote work available
- Good oral & written communication skills
- Excel as a team player and strive to maximize team & department performance
- Must be willing to participate in On Call and weekend work as needed
Junior Cloud Systems Administrator – Tier 1 Support Position Preferences:
- Beginner knowledge, Systems Administration
- Beginner knowledge, Linux/Unix
- Beginner knowledge, Windows Server management
- Previous experience with supporting end-users at a Tier 1 level
- Experience with user management of enterprise systems
- Linux and Windows OS experience
- A+ or equivalent certification
- Self-directed, detail oriented, problem solver
Team Information:
The successful applicant will become a member of an IT Operations team that provides tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 level support to several programs external to ARA. This applicant will support external users of cloud-hosted systems. The team has a close relationship with the Engineering teams also deploying these environments.
