Job Description
A State approved vocational rehabilitation company is looking to fill a full-time Job Developer position.
The Job Developer performs activities designed to assist clients with finding employment. This includes working closely with local employers, business organizations, and community organizations in developing job opportunities and arranging the direct placement of clients with or without disabilities by matching job skills with applicant qualifications.
Examples of key duties include:
1. Initiates and maintains personal contacts with business and industry representatives to set up, identify and develop positions for clients.
2. Assists clients in identifying positions; assists in development of resumes, cover letters and applications; advises clients on employability skills; and works with clients to gain relevant skills.
3. Remains up to date with industry trends; updates labor market information by researching online resources such as job posting databases, Michigan Works!, or other community job placement resources
4. Attends routine meetings with vocational counseling staff, maintain contacts with regional employers/employment resources, and network with professional/community organizations that are involved in job placement/training activities.
5. Communicates and follows up with employers during client’s employment search and following job placement to provide support, if needed.
6. Work directly with vocational counselors to collect and track job placement data; compiles data and prepares reports and correspondence regarding job development and placement efforts.
7. May assist the vocational counselor by scheduling appointments, developing correspondence, researching job leads and contacting prospective employers to promote the injured worker and develop job leads.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree, and previous experience with job development and placement is preferred, but not required.
