Job Description
The Systems Administrator (SA) is responsible for designing & supporting the IT Infrastructure. This includes VMware, Fortinet firewall, switches, AP’s, Active Directory, DHCP, Microsoft 365. SQL databases, and VOIP. The Systems Administrator will also provide 2nd & 3rd level support to the Local Help Desk. The SA will assist with IT projects and plans.
The Systems Administrator (SA) position is a local position. You must be able to commute to Portage, Indiana.
Essential Functions
- Answers technical support calls, interviews caller/user to collect information about problem and leads user through diagnostic procedures to determine the root cause of the issue.
- Conducts troubleshooting of IT environments including OS, networks, applications, and hardware.
- Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up for routine user problems.
- Logs and tracks calls using problem management database (help desk), and maintains a knowledgebase of related problem documentation.
- Analyzes and evaluates incident reports and makes recommendations to reduce reoccurrence of issues.
- Tests software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing job duties.
- Performs the installation and configuration of IT hardware, software, and peripheral components.
- Travels to sites to perform onsite support.
- Participate in server architecture and design as well as server environment recommendations for the overall infrastructure solution including storage capacity planning.
- Responsible for maintenance plans, and scripts.
- Manage security and control access permissions and privileges
- Maintain the health, performance, and integrity of systems
- Responsible for availability, reliability, and integrity of business data stored in production databases.
- Communicate regularly with the development team, business, and operations team to ensure the security and confidentiality of data.
- Resolve production issues with team members and implement improvements to prevent a recurrence of the issue.
- Administration of Domain Controllers, server configuration, user & group accounts, permissions, and group policy.
- All other as assigned by the Chief Information Officer
