The Fred Hutch IT organization is looking for an IT Enterprise Architect (EA) to support and evolve the organization's technology portfolio of systems, applications and infrastructure as well as providing technical consulting functions. This role is a cross between the traditional responsibilities of an Enterprise Architect and Solutions Architect

The EA helps the organization achieve its objectives by enabling the delivery of business capabilities and stewarding technology resources to their most efficient and effective use. The EA builds and maintains IT roadmaps aligned to business strategy and establishes architectural standards and guidelines to minimize complexity of the technical portfolio. They also help improve integration, support innovation, and enable enterprise productivity and collaboration. The EA plays a key role as a cross-domain, cross-functional SME in collaborating, influencing, and guiding technology decisions and strategy in partnership with key stakeholders and leadership.

Responsibilities

 

  • Create and maintain long-term strategic and technology roadmaps for critical IT systems, infrastructure and applications.
  • Asist with the alignment of IT strategy and planning with the goals and objectives of the Fred Hutch.
  • Integrate business/research/clinical strategies into the enterprise architecture roadmaps.
  • Work with business and technology subject matter experts to gather and translate business requirements into innovative technical solutions.
  • Help develop and maintain technology standards, principles, practices, and policies to govern the acquisition and evolution of technology solutions and services
  • Provide technical consulting services to IT departments, leadership, business, research and clinical communities.
  • Keep up to date on the latest technology trends in the industry, focusing on the areas of cloud computing, storage, applications, software development, data systems and automation.
  • Technical leadership of projects to evaluate, select, design and assist with the implementation of technical solutions.
  • Drive the development, adoption and consistent implementation of architecture principles, and standards throughout the technical stack and across a broad range of environments.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation and diagrams (physical, logical, process flow) for current critical systems architecture including integrations and workflows.
  • Act as an evangelist for technology by way of communication, socialization of ideas, concepts, and building partnerships in alignment with change management methodologies.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance and testing of IT disaster recovery plans
Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of IT architecture experience spanning all facets of IT; strong expertise and understanding of IT systems, security, applications, data, and cloud architecture.
  • BA/BS Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent job experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, visual communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Passion for learning, testing and evangelizing the latest technology trends and practices.
  • Self-starter that can educate themselves on required topics and operate without close supervision.
  • Enterprise architecture processes, principles and standards, frameworks and methods.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows (server/desktop) and Linux systems management.
  • Experience with public IaaS cloud computing management: Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with directory and identity management: Active Directory, Azure AD, SSO, MFA.
  • Experience with networking protocols and tools: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS, VPN, VLAN.
  • Experience with server virtualization technologies, such as: VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, KVM.
Desired Experience 
  • Gathering, analyzing and summarizing empirical data for problem analysis and decision making.
  • Gathering and documenting system and solution functional and technical requirements.
  • Creating presentation quality documents and diagrams: Word, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies
  • Creating test plans, leading testing efforts, documenting and communicating the results.
  • Experience serving in the role of solutions architect or technical consultant
  • Familiarity with security and regulatory compliance standards: HIPAA, FISMA/NIST
  • Storage systems and protocols: SAN/NAS/SMB/NFS/iSCSI/S3
  • Microsoft M365: SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Power Platform.
  • Database systems: Microsoft SQL or PostgreSQL and the SQL query language.
  • Scripting and automation tools: BASH, Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible.
  • Application containerization and orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Software development practices (source code management, CI/CD)

The annual base salary range for this position is from $131,450 to $219,083 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
