  • #LI-POSTDescription of JobThe purpose of this part-time internship is to provide meaningful professional public administration experience to collegiate students with proven academic performance and a strong desire to learn and contribute.
  • The Transportation Performance & Asset Management Branch informs both external and internal customers of the performance of Colorado's multimodal transportation system and the management of transportation assets at CDOT. The position includes informing CDOT senior management and the public on the performance of the department to help make informed decisions with Department resources.
  • The ideal candidate will have completed or be pursuing a degree in data analysis, statistical analysis, political science, public administration, business administration, journalism, information science or some closely related field.
  • Plan events and be responsible for logistics, equipment, and presenters;+ Process and release official information upon request.
  • Create and produce correspondence on own initiative;+ Enter data and information into data entry programs, databases, or online systems;+ Verify entries and corrects transactions, verify data using optical character recognition program if required, and maintain records of data processed;+ Compile and format data content.
  • Generates reports on system information;+ Troubleshoot and report problems with processing of transactions;+ Perform clearly defined assignments following established work processes and procedures.
  • Operate within standard processes and alternatives and any deviation requires prior approval;+ Responsible for project work to fulfill Branch business needs and requirements; + Develop presentation materials, graphs, charts, and infographics;+ Help produce content for internal and external branch web portals;+ Other job duties as assigned.
  • Work Environment:+ Expected work schedule is between Monday through Friday+ It is anticipated that this role will work approximately 24-40 hours per week, with a desire that the selected candidate will work 30 hours a week.
  • + Ability to work in an active, collaborative, team-oriented environment is a must Use a computer to accomplish everyday work duties+ May be required to operate CDOT vehicle at occasional travel to satellite offices around the state.

  • Qualified candidates must be either:+ Any college student enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university seeking an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph. D. degree.
  • OR+ A recent college graduate.
  • Recently graduated means the individual should have attended an accredited college or university and have graduated with an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph. D. degree within three calendar years.
  • OR+ A certified participant in the Colorado Refugee Services Program.
  • A copy of your transcripts listing your name, the school name, courses by term, and term GPA or degree conferral and conferral date must be included in your documentation; unofficial copies are acceptable (Progress Reports/Degree Audits will not be accepted in lieu of an official or unofficial transcript).
  • The Exceptional Candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate college/university student, or recent graduate as defined above, or a certified participant in the Colorado Refugee Services Program, with proven accomplishments in the following:+ Strong interest in the duties listed in the Description of the Job section.
  • + Completion of 2 years or more in an accredited university in data analysis, statistical analysis, political science, public administration, business administration, journalism, information science or related fields.
  • + Knowledge of government transportation policy.
  • + Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience editing publications or other documents.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • + Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, and Gmail; experience with Microsoft SharePoint and/or Google Drive a plus.
  • + Experience with the development of graphs and charts using the Microsoft Office suite.
  • + Experience with Microsoft Power BI and ESRI ArcGIS.A copy of your transcripts listing your name, the school name, courses by term, and term GPA or degree conferral and conferral date must be included in your documentation; unofficial copies are acceptable.
  • Transcripts from colleges or universities outside of the United States must be assessed for U.S. equivalency by a NACES educational credential evaluation service.
  • Failure to provide a transcript or credential evaluation report will result in your application being rejected and you will not be able to continue in the selection process for this position.
