raSmith is a consulting civil and structural engineering and land surveying firm. Our public and private clients come to us for creative and effective solutions for their projects. We work on projects nationwide from our seven locations in Wisconsin, Illinois and California.
Our Internship Program delivers unparalleled real-world experience. Interns will work side-by-side with raSmith project managers, engineers and technicians on projects designed to teach, stretch and shape your thinking. Participants are encouraged to hone their problem-solving abilities and develop technical skills through challenging project assignments.
We currently have an opening for an Intern student for Summer 2024 at our Brookfield, WI office. We are looking for students with an interest in gaining practical engineering experience through on-the-job training. Our diverse structural projects include design and three-dimensional modeling of a variety of structural systems including cast-in-place and precast concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood and old formed steel framing for health care, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings. The intern tasks may be equally diverse, depending on our current projects.
Structures Intern - Primary Responsibilities:
On any given day our intern students could be working on the following:
- Structural design efforts involving drawings and calculations for assigned projects and structural systems of cast-in-place and precast concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood and cold formed steel framing for a variety of healthcare, commercial, retail, multi-family residential, industrial and institutional buildings nationwide.
- The intern tasks may be equally diverse, depending on our current projects.
raSmith Interns receive extensive training and mentorship throughout internship, and they are highly regarded and sought after for full-time employment at raSmith upon graduation.
Requirements
Structures Intern - Skills and Requirements:
Qualified Students must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed the Junior Year of a 4 year Bachelor of Science Program in Civil Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Have some exposure to AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office products
- Able to solve basic structural engineering problems; good decision-making skills
- Skilled at planning by accurately scoping out length and difficulty of tasks and projects
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
