Engineer II
The Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied.
Engineer III
This is the advancing level of the Engineering classification hierarchy, Engineer III. Employees at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with even greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressing complex and varied.
Job Summary:
The Integrity Engineer II or III ensures transmission pipeline safety through integrity management principles. The position supports the overall administration and implementation of the Transmission Integrity Program (TIMP) and Assessment Management Program (AMP) plans and procedures to ensure compliance with 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart M and O for over 1,000 miles of High Consequence Areas (HCAs) and in-scope Medium Consequence Areas (MCAs) and Class 3/4 locations for approximately 2,800 miles of steel transmission pipelines across seven (7) states.
The Integrity Engineer's responsibilities are focused around Integrity Management programmatic tasks. The Integrity Engineer will manage the HCA, MCA, 192.710 segment and Class location analysis and will assist with the threat assessment, risk analysis, assessment planning, identifying an documenting prevention and mitigated measures, gather and integrate data for performance metrics and performing quality assurance of all programmatic tasks to ensure each body of work meets the requirements of the program. The Integrity Engineer will be part of an on-call rotation where integrity dig results are reviewed, failure pressure calculations are conducted, and timely repair decisions are communicated. The incumbent may also assist the with integrity assessments such as External Corrosion/Internal Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA/ICDA), In-Line Inspection (ILI), Hydrostatic Pressure Testing, etc when needed. The Integrity Engineer must stay informed of new regulations, advisory bulletins, and new technologies affecting Integrity Management. The role requires collaboration with all functional areas and contractors regarding the planning, prioritization and data collection of all field and program activities related to the integrity programs. The incumbent is responsible for working with external contractors assisting with Integrity Management and managing the work to support the requirements of the program.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Manage the HCA, MCA, 192.710 segment analyses and Class Location study.
- Assist with all integrity management programmatic tasks.
- Support the integrity assessment group as needed
- Conduct remaining life and failure pressure calculations when needed for anomalies
- Collaborate with contractors supporting integrity management
- Provide technical direction to employees regarding transmission integrity management requirements.
- Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex problems in area of expertise with the ability to visualize long-term results and assess impacts on a system-wide basis.
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities where only limited standardization exists; handles differing situations which require searching for solutions within area of expertise.
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with the ability to conduct analysis and recommend process enhancements and standards relative to area of assignment.
- Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating complex projects; applies extensive technical expertise to manage projects and disseminate knowledge to enhance the organizational unit's competitive position.
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures; demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and develops standards relevant to area of assignment.
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.

Basic/Required Qualifications - Engineer II
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program, A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
- In addition to required degree, two (2) or more years of related work experience
Basic/Required Qualifications - Engineer III
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program, A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
- In addition to required degree, four (4) or more years of related work experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
- Registered Professional Engineer
- NACE CP 1 certification or higher
- PCIM Technologist
- Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
- Experience in the natural gas or liquid industry with respect to transmission pipeline operations, construction and/or design
- Working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR Part 192
- Transmission integrity management experience in the natural gas industry
- Experience making risk assessment decisions using integrity management principles
- Experience in risk assessment, stress analysis, material deformation, fracture mechanics, steel metallurgy, nondestructive inspection, and/or material properties and testing techniques
- Understanding remaining strength calculations such as KAPA/ModB31G and corrosion growth rate calculations.
- Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
- Knowledge of pipeline degradation mechanism and repair systems
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Basic understanding of steel metallurgy, nondestructive inspection, and stress analysis
- Strong analytical skills in managing IM related data sets
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in the use of information systems, MS Word, Excel

- Valid Drivers' License
Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time in meetings or at a computer
- Must be able to travel on a regular basis with some overnight stays
- Must be able to walk to project sites along transmission pipeline rights of way
- Must be able to lift up to 20lbs
- Job Mobility: Hybrid- Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated.
