Overview
The Orange County Corrections Inmate Administrative Services Division is seeking to fill several vacancies for Intake & Release Officer.
This is a professional Corrections position that requires good communication, conflict management and problem-solving, time management, initiative and accountability, professionalism, integrity and good judgment. Assigned duties require attention to detail, and effective oral and written communication skills.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a supervisor or designee. Performance is evaluated on accuracy, efficiency, and achievement of desired results.
This Division consists of three shifts that operate twenty-four hours a day, seven days per week (24/7), weekends and holidays. The shifts are: A: 6am-2pm, B: 2pm-10pm, C: 10pm-6am
Representative Duties

Pretrial Services
- Identifies and processes inmates for administrative and court ordered releases.
- Interviews inmates and conducts research to validate information and/or screen for program eligibility.
- Conducts investigations to verify background information and community ties to provide a detailed profile of each inmate.
- Administers the risk assessment instrument to evaluate the risk of reoffending and flight and to assign appropriate supervision level.
- Accesses, obtains and verifies inmate information via multiple criminal justice information systems.
- Provides information to the judiciary during court proceedings to assist in making informed detention and release decisions.
- Trains staff and works as a team lead at the direction of a Shift Supervisor or designee.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Inmate Records Management
- Conducts quality assurance process reviews through the use of automated reports.
- Monitors and manages workflows and processes to ensure accurate intake and release of inmates.
- Serves as Liaison between Law Enforcement and staff to troubleshoot during intake process.
- Disseminates and communicates inmate information to various criminal justice system partners, to include law enforcement agencies, the clerk of courts, and the judiciary.
- Processes paperwork required for the intake and release of inmates.
- Accesses, obtains, and verifies inmate information via multiple criminal justice information systems.
- Assists internal and external entities to resolve issues and ensure accurate processing of inmates.
- Assists in the development and delivery of training to staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Professional work experience in counseling, criminal justice or social services may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year for year basis.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License by date of hire.
Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification and may be required to possess and maintain Florida Notary Public certification within three months of employment or promotion.
Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays
Preferences
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a closely related field

Candidates successfully passing all steps of this recruitment process will be placed on an eligibility candidate pool for future vacancies.

Management reserves the right to create a candidate eligibility pool that may be used to fill future Corrections Shift Supervisor vacancies for up to eighteen (18) months from the end of the process. Management may choose from the eligibility pool list in any order.
