Job description

NAES Corporation is excited to be providing operations and maintenance services for the Northeast Energy Center (NEC) Project. The Northeast Energy Center (NEC), currently under construction, will include an LNG facility, gas interconnection pipeline, and gas meter station. The LNG facility comprises a feed gas pretreatment system, 250,000 gallon per day gas liquefaction system, 2 million gallon full-containment field-erected LNG storage tank, LNG truck-loading station with four bays (three with scales), process control system, storm water management infrastructure, and other ancillary systems.
General Summary
The Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of instrumentation, controls, and Electrical equipment in an LNG plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for calibrating, troubleshooting, and modifying pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control systems. The ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and PFDs is required.
Primary Functions

  • Install, repair, and maintain instrumentation, controls, and Electrical equipment in the LNG plant, including but not limited to switches, transmitters, analyzers, controllers, and motors
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and modify pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems (DCS) for the LNG plant
  • Interpret electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and process flow diagrams (PFDs)
  • Take equipment readings, interpret abnormal readings and alarms, and take pre-designated corrective actions, including activation of emergency equipment and procedures
  • Work without supervision on maintaining proper plant operation, security, and emergency equipment and procedures, notify supervision of any abnormalities
  • Conduct regular equipment and systems tests and inspections to ensure reliability and availability
  • Perform work orders for inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and system modifications
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and report deficiencies for restock and reorder
  • Clean, paint, and perform other general maintenance tasks as required
  • Complete company-sponsored training as required
  • Participate in emergency response drills and exercises and respond to actual emergencies as needed
  • Perform other duties as required

Working Relationships
This position reports to both the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Supervisor and Plant Manager, and collaborates with all other plant personnel.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include the possibility of standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
Regular scheduled workdays are Monday to Friday, during normal day shift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
Starting compensation ranges from $40.00 to $60.00 per hour, taking into account varying levels of experience.
Job Qualifications
  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school
  • Relevant technical training or certification in instrumentation, controls, or electrical systems
  • Valid Massachusetts journeyman or master electrician license is a plus
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in an LNG plant, power generation facility or related industry is desired including knowledge in hazardous area wiring
  • Experience and proficiency in safely working with voltages from 480V to 13.2 KV is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation, controls, and Electrical equipment. Application of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and relevant LNG specific codes & standards is a plus
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control systems, PLCs, and DCS
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and PFDs
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must possess or maintain a valid Drivers License
