The Instrument tech provides sterile instruments and linens utilizing safety standards in accordance with practice protocol, policy and procedure, professional standards and state regulation.
Responsibilities
- Instruments
- Cleans and sterilizes all instruments and related equipment daily. Stamps with date.
- Maintains inventory of all office instruments
- Schedules quarterly instruments sharpening times with vendor
- Removes all instruments form exam rooms and maintains cleanliness of instruments containers.
- Sterilizers
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance requirements of all sterilizers.
- Schedules maintenance checks with sterilizer technician
- Loads and unloads all sterilizers daily.
- Linens
- Provides laundering to soiled linens daily
- Fold clean linens daily
- Provides sterilization to specified linens and stamps with date
- Clinical Space Maintenance
- Maintains cleanliness of exam rooms; provides routine deep cleaning of equipment cabinets, doors, exam table.
- Provides weekly maintenance to overhead lights.
- Supplies
- Prints each physician's schedule and prepares all supplies needed for the following day's surgical cases including paperwork.
- Orders supplies for the clinical areas.
- Receives supply orders erequester
- Keeps clean and organized all supply and instrument work spaces.
- Stocks and organizes all exam rooms, laser rooms, Mohs, rooms, nurses' nooks, and drop down charting stations including pencil drawers, base of tables, stools, biohazard garbage cans, magazine racks, brochure racks, etc.
- Specimens
- Reviews and checks all specimen bottles and requisitions performed during each day and sends out via FedEx couriers are to be called for specimen and culture pick up. At the end of every day the pharmacy refrigerator, and front desk are to be checked for specimens that have not been picked up. Anything that has not been picked up needs to be followed up on per protocol.
- Safety
- Communicates with Clinical Director or nurse supervisor any safety issues pertaining to the job.
- Wears protective attire as per protocol and policy of Premier Dermatology.
- Adherence to compliance and completion of compliance training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
- Good Manual dexterity skills.
- Computer knowledge.
- Performs tasks which involve exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue.
- Able to work independently.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated leadership experience. Must be able to demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others with regard to professional behavior, handling multiple tasks, maintaining a positive attitude, and in response to organizational change.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Must be able to learn new software quickly.
- Must possess excellent leadership, organizational, and computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, board, clients, and the public.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 300 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull up to 200 lbs.
- Ability to stand for large portions of the workday.
- Ability to communicate in an active multi-office environment.
- Ability to efficiently operate all job related office equipment (telephone, computer, calculator, fax, and copier).
