Role responsibilities will include providing leadership, direction, and support to instrumentation and safety instrumented systems integrity, health, and reliability, programs through the evaluation and application of experience, knowledge, and industry best practices. What You Will Do In Your RoleEmphasize maintaining the integrity of our instrumentation and associated safety systems through the appropriate application of existing work processes. Efforts should include the review and revision of existing work processes, as needed.Foster a culture and environment within the instrumentation discipline in which affected parties align on the concept that data leads to value and that our instruments are the primary and key sources of that data. Work to change existing viewpoints and mental models about the importance of data and how the instrumentation discipline can contribute to our overall success.Identify, evaluate, and champion new technologies and new ways of accomplishing our safety, environmental, reliability, and economic goals. Provide technical solutions through the collection, analysis, and summary of data and trends.Provide assistance, guidance, and oversight, as needed, for the preparation of specifications, designs, scopes of work, and construction packages for instrument installations, replacements, and upgrades. Efforts may involve control systems (PLC, DCS, etc.), analyzers, transducers, wireless sensors, control valves, and regulators.Develop, update, and maintain applicable reliability strategies and guidance documents and help develop project justifications to address plant reliability concerns and continuous improvement initiatives.Lead or otherwise assist with root cause failure analyses related to instrumentation and related systems. Help develop recommended corrective actions to eliminate reoccurrence and bad actors.Provide SME-level assistance and support, as needed, to site-specific Management of Change (MOC) efforts.Provide SME-level assistance and support for site-specific turnaround scope development, planning, and execution.Partner with the site and organizational business teams to identify long-term needs and formulate frameworks for action.Partner with operations personnel and work execution teams to develop new reliability tools while helping to improve technical capabilities.Advance the organization’s technical expertise by keeping up to date with new technologies and design changes. Efforts to include collaboration with peers throughout Koch Industries to share knowledge and experiences.Lead efforts to accelerate the transformation of existing maintenance practices to a condition-based approach and ultimately transition Invista maintenance practices and activities to a predictive based system based on data capture, analysis, and analytics development and deployment. Take leadership role in the evaluation and application of safety instrumented systems and associated compliance methods and measures throughout Invista, including acquiring Functional Safety Engineer Certification (TUV). Facilitate the adoption, implementation, and updating of industry leading Reliability Safety Programs and program elements (e.g., SIS, Safety Managers, IPL, SIF, critical alarms, interlocks, burner management systems, etc.).Solve technical problems and steer economic decisions while working with a diverse workforce.Provide mentoring to less experienced technical staff members.Assist with initial screening and interviews with potential candidates for open technical roles.Problem solve and troubleshoot issues using transformative and innovative approaches. The Experience You Will BringRequirements:Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Control Systems Engineering or Related Discipline and 7 years of relevant experience.OrMinimum of 12 years of experience in a Reliability Technical Role in a petrochemical or PSM covered facility.What Will Put You AheadElectrical Engineer Degree and 10 years’ experience in a petrochemical or PSM covered facility.Knowledge of facility/process design in tuning, engineering, and PSM standards.Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis of process control issues, identifying and implanting corrective actions.Experience working with plant networks (Server/Clients) and process control hardware.Experience with engineering softwareExperience applying statistical tools to identify "Bad Actor" equipment.Working knowledge of compliance and engineering standards (NEC, NFPA, API, OSHA, ISA, EPA, etc.).Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives, troubleshooting, and projects.Our goal is for each employee, and their families, to live fulfilling and healthy lives.
