JOB TITLE: Continuous Improvement Instructional Coach
JOB SUMMARY: Position is responsible for using adult learning theory to support teachers in implementing and integrating best practices in instruction through the use improvement science tools and strategies. The focus is on continuous improvement in classrooms; utilization of data to integrate shorts cycles of improvement to meet the overall goal(s); and establishing effective rapport with teachers, students, and administrators.

WORKS WITH: CSI Coach Team, Administrators, Support Staff, Certified Staff, Classified Staff
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION LEVEL: Minimum of Bachelor's in education, Master's degree is preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION: Current, valid South Dakota teaching certificate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use phone and computer; see and read computer screen and printed material with or without visual aids; hear and understand speech at normal office levels, classroom levels, and on phone; and, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead. Must have the ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Usually works indoors in climate controlled environment. Teaching, student supervision, bus/recess duty, or field trips may be performed outdoors or away from school.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and/or provides training and coaching to school staff in instructional best practices including but not limited to Principles of Improvement Science.
Supports the instructional development of all teachers in understanding improvement science practices supported with state standards, district curriculum/pacing guide/assessments, goals, PDSA cycles, student data driving instruction, purpose statements, and the Framework for Teaching.
Provides direction and coordination for curriculum implementation consistent with the district's foundational principles and recognized best instructional practices.
Develops guides and other support material as necessary.
Supports and is a valuable member of the CSI Team.
Demonstrates initiative and an ability to follow through on projects.
Provides resources and assistance for all staff regarding instructional best practice, continuous improvement strategies, and technology integration.
Supports teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.
Informally observes (non-evaluative) and models lessons to provide feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success.
Utilizes adult learning theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice.

17. Provides relevant information from research and professional literature on best practices in instruction.
18. Collaborates with Director of Curriculum in evaluation of program effectiveness through data collection and data analysis.
19. Adheres to the standards outlined in the South Dakota Code of Ethics for Educators and the policies of the District.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by administrators.
