$15.00 Hourly rate
Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:
MAJOR FUNCTION
Works with the PC Support and Network teams on the initial setup and configuration of desktop and laptop PCs as well as assists in the installation and maintenance of data distribution equipment.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Utilizes in-house systems, image desktop and laptop computers. Transfers all user data from old PC to new. Transports and installs personal computers and network equipment for County employees. Ensures that all peripherals are reconnected and operational. Ensures Information Technology inventory system is updated. Removes old equipment and coordinate disposal with the PC Support and network teams. Completes work ticket and tracking systems with details for each installation or system modification as required. Enters data in tracking documents/systems to keep track of progress. Informs PC Support or Network Supervisor of status as needed. Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of standard personal computer hardware, network and related equipment. Ability to install various software packages on personal computers. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot repairs on personal computer systems. Ability to identify and install network equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively with end-users, IT staff, and management. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and officials. Ability to speak in a manner that can be understood. Ability to work as part of a team.
Under the supervision of the PC Support and Network team, must have the ability to use independent judgment and make analytical recommendations. Must be able to work independently and solve problems effectively. Must have the ability to see, write, and perform data entry keying efforts. Ability to concentrate on detail and sequential work tasks. Ability to sit for long periods. Ability to bend, stoop, sit, and stand. Ability to lift and transport a minimum of fifty lbs. Ability to perform tasks that require eye and hand coordination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university, with a major or completed coursework in Computer Science, Business Administration or related degree program.
- Must be at least 18 years of age by hire date.
No substitution is allowed as applicants must meet the bona fide student requirement standard.
SPECIAL PREFERENCE
Preferred applicants will have or be working toward the following certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCENT or higher certification, Microsoft Certified Professional.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
