Job Description
Information technology specialists are responsible for maintaining, processing, and troubleshooting military computer systems/operations. This is a job skill that is performed in the US Army or Army Reserves as a Soldier. Enlisting is required and will undergo pre-qualifying questions, an interview, an academic test, and a physical. This is an initial entry job skill, no experience is necessary. The US Army will send you to the school to learn the job and get the necessary certifications.
JOB DUTIES:
- Maintenance of networks, hardware, and software.
- Provide customer and network administration services.
- Construct, edit and test computer programs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Those who want to serve must first take a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.
Ages 17-34; 35-39 Requires a Waiver
TRAINING:
Job training for an information technology specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction.
- Use of computer consoles and peripheral equipment.
- Computer systems concepts.
- Planning, designing, and testing computer systems.
HELPFUL SKILLS:
- Interest in computer science.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Experience in the installation of computers.
COMPENSATION:
