Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking an Information and Resource Specialist who is responsible for providing information and referrals for guests and clients seeking assistance with employment (Work for Success Program and Christopher’s Place screening), housing, earned benefits (food stamp, housing, social security) and emergency needs (Food, Clothing, Energy Assistance).

For over 35 years, the Our Daily Bread Employment Center has helped people in need with a daily hot meal, case management, job training, and employment counseling. Our Daily Bread Employment Center is committed to planting seeds of hope daily for individuals experiencing hunger in Baltimore City and helping them improve their lives. Access to healthy food is a human right, and providing it is a collective responsibility. Satisfying this need requires sustained commitment and dedication from countless staff and volunteers, and support from the community. We all play an integral part.

 JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintains referral list for available resources within Catholic Charities and the community.
  • Provide a continuum of services for all clients
  • Maintain documentation of services rendered and input in a timely manner on each client according to policies and procedures. This includes documentation of services accessed.
  • Assist in marketing ODBEC  programs  and  services  to the  community   and  presenting  information about program  to outside organizations.
  • Assist clients in meeting requirements of job placement including referrals to obtain identification documents and other paperwork such as required documentation for employer eligibility verification as required by USCIS- United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
  • Handle all inquiries about Christopher Place Employment Academy. Recruit CPEA members by completing application and literacy test.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Human Resources, Psychology or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven competency in the use of Microsoft Office in a Windows environment.

 REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to act with discretion, tact, and professionalism in all situations.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with others.

Catholic Charities’ policy requires employees in this position to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, which includes a process for requesting exemption.
