Indirect Lending Manager - Consumer Lending

POSITION PURPOSE

 

Responsible for designing and implementing a business plan that increases penetration in the indirect auto market.  Oversee day-to-day operations and may oversee department staff.  Establish policies and procedures that maximize potential business and limit or reduce loss ratio.  Build and enhance relationships with new and existing auto dealers.  Develop, recommend, and report on departmental improvements and manage the department's budget.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

 

1.         Manage the operation of the Indirect Lending program and leverage sales and relationship management skills to identify, foster, and maintain positive relationships with dealerships and dealer owners within the market. Ensure that dealer questions or issues are resolved in a timely manner.

2.         Establish and build relationships across the organization to ensure other team members understand and support Indirect Lending program strategies.

3.         Hold all dealerships and dealer owners accountable to organization's Indirect Lending standards.

4.         Monitor and make recommendations for dealer additions or removal to Indirect Lending program.

5.         Conduct due diligence reviews to onboard new dealers into Indirect Lending program, to include business credit pulls, financial reviews, and interviewing dealer owners.

6.         Conduct monthly and/or quarterly performance reviews with each dealership.

7.         Identify poor performing dealerships and create Performance Improvement Plans to aid the dealership to remain in Indirect Lending program.

8.         Compile and analyze data to evaluate the present and future status of indirect loan production, portfolio and dealer performance, products, policies and procedures.

9.         Communicate and facilitate change to achieve strategic initiatives and Indirect Lending goals. Create a clear plan of action to achieve stated goals in area of responsibility including production, processing and title procurement.

10.       Assist Director of Operations with reports, communications, and special projects, which may include reporting duties on the originations, key metrics, and performance of the Indirect Lending portfolio.

11.       Work closely with Consumer Lending Manager to ensure service levels to both members and external partners are met or exceeded.

12.       Follow Indirect Lending policies and procedures that protect the credit union and members' best interests.

13.       Maintain knowledge in all regulatory requirements regarding Indirect Lending including credit underwriting criteria and dealer lending practices.  Ensure that all contracts and relationships with auto dealers comply with lending policies and regulations.

14.       Participate in the underwriting and credit analysis on incoming applications, and review/coach underwriting decisions made by staff, and coach underwriting team for purchase decisions to mirror the organization's strategic initiatives.

15.       Review documents to support credit decision (dealer contracts, verification of income, tax returns, and additional supporting documentation, etc.)

16.       Conduct limited negotiations with dealer personnel where appropriate.

17.       Develop, implement, and maintain system tools to track and analyze Indirect Lending programs.  Provide reports to Director of Operations and/ or other members of the senior management team and/or Board of Directors.

18.       Coordinate marketing requirements with the marketing department to develop advertising and sales literature for the Indirect Lending program. 

19.       Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the Indirect Lending program.  Provide timely feedback that allows the organization to react competitively.

20.       Maintain knowledge of competitors' rates and terms and other trends relating to auto loans or Indirect Lending.

21.       Maintain professional presence in the community when acting as a representative of the organization. 

22.       All other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:  

Bachelor's degree in finance or business administration or a related field required.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:         

5 + years dealer lending and/or Consumer Lending and loan underwriting experience preferred.

Indirect Lending and Auto Dealer Sales experience required

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:           

Strong business acumen

Excellent analytical and organizational skills

Proficient to advanced Microsoft Office skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:       

Work is generally carried out in a typical open office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the working conditions are those of a typical office environment, with temperatures occasionally too warm or too cold, moderate noise levels and under lighting conditions typical of an office. Some weekend hours required. Local travel up to 10% required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a desk and in meetings for long periods of time on a continuous basis; intermittently twist to reach equipment surrounding desk; perform simple grasping and fine manipulation with fingers; reach with hands and arms; use a telephone or other electronic communication devices; stand for long periods of times at counter, printers; communicate orally and through written means; use standard office equipment such as computers, printers; write or use a keyboard to perform assigned duties; bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist while checking equipment; occasionally stand and/or walk over both even and uneven ground; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; hearing and vision within normal ranges with or without correction.
