In-House Counsel

Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required

Required Experience:

• Juris Doctorate required.
• 5+ years of experience professional experience focused on reviewing and negotiating contracts.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience within an environmental firm
• Familiar with Federal Acquisition Regulations / FARs

What’s the Opportunity?

In this newly established role, the In-House Counsel provides accurate, relevant, and timely advice on a variety of legal topics that relate to our business and serves as a resource providing guidance in support of all contracts, compliance, and risk related activities of the company.

Responsibilities:

Primary contact responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating client, vendor, and subconsultant contracts and agreements for proper institutional risk management. Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business. Promotes legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company. Assists with claims handling, insurance procurement/renewals, state licensing, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, office lease review, and corporate documents. Acts as liaison with external counsel and insurance brokers as needed.

• 5+ relevant professional experience
• Ability to work efficiently and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and to collaborate effectively across groups.
• Ability to find creative solutions to legal issues, and to effectively balance legal risks against business interests.
• Mastery of contract analysis particularly with insurance and indemnification provisions
• Outstanding organizational and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with Architect/Engineer industry and FARs/DFARs compliance is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $98,000.00 - $118,000.00 per year
