Job Summary:
Gotham Ready Mix, LLC is looking to hire a Human Resources Specialist to join our growing HR department. The Human Resources Specialist will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s HR department. *Please note that the position requires reporting to our office full-time in Jamaica, Queens.*
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct phone screenings for job applicants.
- Monitors applicant tracking systems and posts/reposts job postings as needed.
- Assists with the applicant and hiring process by processing background checks, setting up drug screenings, and other compliance-related duties.
- Provides administrative support to the HR department.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) strongly preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in related field required.
- 1-2 years of experience in people operations / Human Resources, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
- 1-2 years of recruiting experience.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and other relevant laws and regulations. (Not required, but strongly preferred.)
- Prior related office experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
