Position Overview
Tonix is looking for a full-time Director of Human Resources to be a strategic partner with management regarding all HR initiitves as well as effectively overseeing, administering, and managing the day to day activities for all aspects of Tonix’s HR programs. This individual in this position will be the HR subject matter expert within the organization and would be responsible for the hiring of new employees, consultanting with senior leaders, and serving as a link between management and employees. This is a fast-paced challenging position offering a competitive compensation and benefits package. This position will report directly to the COO and will be based remotely or at the Tonix Chatham, with the possibility of a hybrid working environment.
Essential Duties
- Carry out the day-to-day management of the company’s HR team, programs, and initiatives
- Serve as subject matter expert, addressing questions and resolving issues, by administering and interpreting policies and procedures, including responding to employee and prospective employee inquiries promptly
- Spearhead ongoing talent acquisition efforts, in order to engage the highest level of candidates
- Assist in preparation of offer letters and employment agreements for US and international hires; liaise with employment attorneys as needed
- Onboard all new hires, in order to facilitate their transition into the company
- Coordinate company benefits programs, including determining eligibility, facilitating enrollment, and administering the reconciliation process; including health insurance, 401(k), and equity programs
- Oversee and administer company payroll processes for US and all international subsidiaries
- Oversee the performance review processes; includingassisting managers in preparing and conducting effective performance reviews
- Assist managers and employees with employee goal alignment to corporate goals
- Oversee maintenance of all benefit related insurance policies for US and international entities
- Coaching and counsel of employees and managers, and act as a resource for both
- Maintain an environment and culture appropriate for the company; promote positive employee relations and general organizational morale
- Ensure compliance with all HR and payroll related applicable federal, state, and local requirements
- Ensure compliance with all HR and payroll related Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), SEC, and FDA regulations
- Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures, good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) and standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Uphold company mission and values through innovation, integrity, quality, passion, accountability, and teamwork
- Perform ad-hoc work/special projects as necessary to support Tonix on various business initiatives
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new team members
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- If necessary, handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
- Contributes to performance and compensation decisions such as: merit raises, bonuses, and promotions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and seven (7) years of experience working in Human Resources, preferably in a management position or alternatively ten (10) years of relevant experience preferred
- SHRM-CP / PHR or SHRM-SCP / SPHR highly desired
- Good understanding of FLSA regulations
- Knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
- Knowledge of 401k calculations as well as IRS regulations preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, international employment-related knowledge a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability for travel up to 25% of the time to support various Tonix offices
