NFS is seeking a Human Resources Manager/ Generalist with particular emphasis on payroll, recruitment, benefits, performance management, employee relations and new hire on-boarding. Individual’s performance will be evaluated based on, but not limited to, achieving positional goals and objectives, assisting in meeting district goals and objectives and on providing quality customer service to both external and internal customers.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Advising on recruitment and retention
- HR strategic planning and implementation
- Managing employee relations
- Various reporting
Primary Responsibilities
- Conducts recruitment for all hourly security positions, exempt and nonexempt personnel and temporary employees. Assist in Recruiting for Exempt management positions.
- Writes and places advertisements.
- Develop and maintain external recruiting sources within the community.
- Conducts new-employee orientations.
- Conduct background and reference checks for all new employees.
- Prepares and maintains employee handbook and assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Handles employee relations counseling. Notify and assist with harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination or any other investigations.
- Data entry of all Change of Status Forms: address, transfers, pay, status, resignations, terminations.
- Process bi-weekly payroll through the company's time and labor management system.
- Performs benefits administration to include communicating benefit information to employees in accordance with union guidelines.
- Provide technical assistance to staff for claims related to workers compensation, short-term disability, and FMLA
- Maintain confidentiality of all information and data.
- Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory.
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
- Conduct and report regular audits of personnel files, I-9’s, licensing.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning interview and select candidates the employment process.
- Monitor the processing of all unemployment claims.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
- At least 5 - 8 years of direct Human Resource experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Applicant Tracking systems.
- Ability to work in a team oriented management environment and to help identify and solve problems.
- Ability to get along with other employees, follow directions, works under stress and continuously improves.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors and the general public.
- Ability to deal with internal and external customers and to ensure compliance with fair employment practices and perform
- Multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and to work evenings, weekends and holidays as requested or required.
- Ability to lift items of reasonable weight like those associated with packing and shipping.
