We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist (HRG) to lead HR programs for our corporate headquarters in Aurora, IL and our divisional offices. The HRG will work on broad company-wide initiatives to strengthen the HR strategy, improve benefits offerings and be instrumental in driving employee engagement initiatives with leadership.

What you'll work on:
- Serves as the lead corporate HR Generalist to initiate and support employee engagement activities that work to improve company culture
- Directly handle employee relations issues, conduct investigations and recommend solutions through the corrective action/performance management process
- Coaches and provides guidance to leadership on employee relations/performance management as they handle performance issues and talent development needs
- Administers and maintains employee benefits, including, but not limited to, medical, dental vision, flexible spending accounts, health savings account, wellness plan, voluntary life and AD&D insurance, 401k, short and long-term disability insurance.
- Serves as the 401k plan administrator and is instrumental in financial education programs for all employees
- Ensures compliance with state and federal laws through efficient administration of company HR policies, procedures, programs and initiatives
- Functions as FMLA administrator in accordance with business process.
- Conducts stay and exit interviews with new or departing employees; track trends for turnover to recommend areas for improvement and works continuously to improve the onboarding experience
- Occasionally facilitates leadership training to support our leadership develop strategy
- Supports the annual cycle for many HR related initiatives, such as open enrollment, performance management, succession and talent review, engagement or pulse surveys, focus groups, etc.
- Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Maintain and administer all HR reports and records as required by state and federal laws
- Assists in completing paperwork for work-related incidents (workers’ compensation) in coordination with the Corporate Safety Director
- Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned

What you'll bring to Shorr Packaging:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in multiple human resource disciplines, including benefits administration, employee relations, employment laws in multiple states
- Professional certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP
- Prior experience in rapidly scaling company preferred
- Proven experience developing trusted and collaborative relationships at all levels of an organization including senior management
- Excellent decision-making skills and a sense of urgency - able to juggle competing priorities with a focus on timely execution and follow through.

- Prior experience administering health benefits and 401k plans
- Knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws – knowledge of Illinois and California employment laws and practices strongly preferred
- Ability to travel to other divisions on occasion
