Pieper Veterinary is in search of an experienced HR Manager who will be responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise.At Pieper, we believe veterinary medicine is a team sport. Pieper Veterinary is a family of emergency, specialty, and primary care hospitals in Central and Southern Connecticut.Our mission is to provide exceptional medical care for pets while keeping care affordable for our clients.We are proud to be a VECCS level I certified and have a team of over 45 doctors and more than 350 support staff across our locations.

The HR Manager is responsible for providing support across a wide array of functions including:

  • Act as a key member of the integration team for mergers & acquisitions
  • Recruiting oversight
  • Oversee routine labor market reviews
  • Strategic and tactical guidance for retention
  • Developing, facilitating and/or recommending developmental training for managers
  • Policy development & guidance
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Director.
  • Annual updating of the employee handbook
  • Collaborate with management on performance reviews
  • Routine check ins with leadership

Key things to know:

  • 5 day work week, Monday-Friday (one day of remote may be possible assuming good performance & full integration into role)
  • This role reports directly to the Director of HR.
  • The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the work of the HR Coordinator.
  • Frequently collaborates with other leaders & departments.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Expertise in HR policies and procedures
  • Strong competency in state & federal labor laws
  • Strong knowledge of hiring processes
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of HR best practices and employment laws and regulations
  • High level of professionalism and discretion
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Familiar with Adobe
  • Strong working knowledge with HRIS systems
  • Excellent communication skills

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field; equivalent experience also considered.
  • 3-5 years' experience in HR
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred
